PSORIASIS AND ITS HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT
Is psoriasis really curable? Can its recurrence be permanently stopped? Why use homoeopathy for psoriasis? How is it so that a disease which is termed incurable by the orthodox system of medicine can be cured with homoeopathy? These intriguing questions are very commonly faced by homoeopaths all over the world, dealing in skin disorders.
Firstly, one needs to know that research shows that Homoeopathic medicines work by optimising our defence mechanisms. Psoriasis is a result of an overreaction of an immune response, and homeopathy cures it by optimising the immune over-response. It does not suppress the immune system. So, homoeopathic healing is not a miracle or a lucky exception but a fact of biology; the result of the optimum utilisation of the body?s natural healing system which is curative and non-suppressive in nature.
Secondly, it is important to realise that the statement by the conventional system of medicine that ?psoriasis cannot be permanently cured? is only their own opinion, based according to the results achieved with their treatment.
The safety aspect also strengthens the case for homoeopathic medicines to be used for treating psoriasis. While using them, the patient is not exposed to the risk of toxicity as homeopathic medicines are highly diluted and side-effects are very uncommon.
Psoriasis is a chronic non-contagious skin disorder. It can affect any part of the body but most often occurs on scalp, elbows, knees, hands, feet and genitals. It may present itself with severe itching and physical discomfort. Although there are many types of psoriasis, the most common type is characterised by raised and thickened red patches covered with silvery scales. Many skin disorders may portray such symptoms, but three main features which differentiate psoriasis from other skin disorders are: psoriasis has well-defined borders. The surface has silvery scales that easily come off and the skin under the scales has a shiny red appearance
Half of the cases of psoriasis show some changes in their nails .There may be pitting, yellow – pink discoloration or complete loss of nail due to the involvement of nail matrix and nail-bed.
What causes psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a skin disorder caused by the over-reaction of our immune system. T-cells (a type of white blood cells) usually protect our body from certain infections and diseases, but in psoriasis they are put into an over-action mode along with other immune responses. This immune over-response leads to inflammation and fast production of immature skin cells. Usually, the production of skin cells takes about a month before they mature, but in psoriasis it may occur in only a few days. One-third of all the cases have a strong family history of psoriasis.
Homoeopathy for psoriasis
It is very clear from the above discussion that psoriasis is not so simple to prescribe for. So, it requires a lot of detailed study of the patient before anything can be prescribed. It requires a deep constitutional analysis. The history of the disease, the family medical history, physical and mental characteristics of the patient, the likes and dislikes, medication details are all taken into consideration. This approach stands in consonance with the homoeopathic convention: ?Treat the patient, not the disease?.

I have a long history of psoriasis of about 19 odd years. As a child I had this chronic disease all over the body and since then I have been suffering from it repeatedly. Most of the times I had been on alopathic treatment (Methotratxate, Acrotac) though, however I have tried homeopathy as an option during my school days. I had suffered a lot during that treatment as psoriasis had spread all over my body, due to which I had to sit back at home. Now I am 30 years and have learn how to live with this chronic disease, however at times it becomes really troubling. From last 4 months I am away from any medication and now could see small patches appearing all over. Before it gets worst (as it does every year, specially in winters) I am thinking of trying Homeopathy treatment this time. What I am only worried about is that when you are on homeopathic treatment, it brings out all the disease from with in (and thats the time you can not move out of your place). Moreover, it occurs (spreads all over my body) and of late I have been experiencing pains in my toes, ankle and knees too.
Please advise so as to go for homeopathy or not?
I’ve been researching the use of turmeric in the treatment of psoriasis–I guess the alleviation of symptoms. I was wondering if people who ingest turmeric on a daily basis through their cuisine–for example folks living in the Indian Subcontinent–are free from the symptoms. The dosages of turmeric described on various websites are very high and may be in great excess to that which might be ingested through diet alone. So, I guess I’m wondering if the prevalence and incidence of the disease is lower on the Indian subcontinent than in the Western world. Also, is turmeric part of any treatment plan recommended by homeopathic practitioners.
My father has been suffering from psoriasis since 1 year… and he has been taking homeopathic medicine for the same for about 3-4 months. The medication has sufficiently reduced the symptoms but has not fully eliminated the disease as it keeps recurring. But now he has developed a new knee pain that does not let him sleep in the night. The other day when I was reading about Psoriasis, I came upon an article saying that 10-15% people having Psoriasis also suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis which is an inflammation of connective tissues in the joints. Is this the reason for his knee pain? And if so.. can u suggest any medication or therapy? Also, Psoriasis is an auto-immune disease that has its origin in psychology. Can we do anything to avert this? We will be highly obliged if you suggest anything. Thank you.

It was good to read these comments & had an opportunity to learn more about the psoriasis. My wife is suffering with psoiasis almost over 6 to 7 months or so.
This was started on her both hand’s fore fingers & seems spreading on other fingers on both hands.
I have tried some of alopathic ointment & other cream. I have lots of faith in Homepathic, could you please advice me if there are any particular homeopathic medicines or oientments to get this cured.

My wife found few white spots on her back & on both legs below knee in Sep-Oct 2007 after she cure from CHIKUN GUNIA. . I have taken Alopathic treatment but instead of stopping of white spots it spreading fastly and little spots begin increase.

1. Correct your diet as give by Edgar cayce. This is really important.

I am suffering from psoriasis for a long time. What I found is, there is no permanent cure for it, but it can be controlled. First keep your mind out of anxiety or tension. Daily exercise and do pranayama and practice relaxing techniques like meditation. Reduce salt in diet. Drink plenty of water. Mostly use cold water for bathing. Once a week, apply oil to whole body and bath. Use mild soaps for washing. Sleep well. Take fibre diet. Just observe, by eating which itching is aggravated and avoid it. Consult an experienced homoeopath for medicines. Kalisulph-6x and Kali Ars 30C may do well. I Wish every one all the best. It is not a contagious disease but may prove to be hereditary . I feel homoeopathy and Ayurved have answers for this problem.
