Pigmentation and its Homeopathic Treatment
Facial discoloration is asymptomatic (without any symptoms) but is of great cosmetic concern, resulting in psychological stress. The most common reasons are pregnancy and exposure to sun. During pregnancy the hormone level can increase the body’s production of melanin, a pigment that tints the skin.
The result is chloasma (also known as melasma or the mask of pregnancy), irregular brown patches on t he forehead, nose, and checks. Women with darker complexions are more prone to developing chlosma. Other pigmented areas, such as birthmarks and freckles, may darken as well. One may also notice a brown line down the abdomen, from the belly button to the public bone, called linea nigra.
Most of these pigmented areas lighten again a few months after delivery, though they may not clear up completely. It is also common in pregnant women, those who are taking oral contraceptives (the “Pill”), and those taking hormone replacement therapy during menopause. Sun exposure is also a strong risk factor for melasma. It is particularly common in tropical climates.
Sepia (homeopathic medicine) is of utmost importance in treating discoloration occurring after pregnancy. In fact, it is apt for what one would call a post-pregnancy syndrome ? a brownish saddle like appearance spreading across the nose, backache, easily fatigued constitution, heightened mental sensitivity and irritability. Other medicines that are important in treatment are arsenic album and conium maculatum.
Sun-damaged skin or sunspots, medically called lentigos, and commonly referred to as liver spots, are a product of sun exposure. This exposure is cumulative and not directly related to sunburn on a specific day.
Homeopathy does not advocate the use of creams and ointments in skin disorders. It believes that skin disorders are a reflection of inside and need to be treated from within. Another strong opinion that homeopaths propagate is that any external application can lead to the suppression of the disease and result in a more serious systemic disorder. A well-prescribed homeopathic medicine not only takes care of hyperpigmentation but also treats as a whole and improves general health as well.
Homoeopathic medicines treat the hormonal imbalance and thus control the excessive production of melanin. The texture of the skin also improves. The occurrences of new patches reduce and ultimately stop. The skin slowly reverts to its normal condition without leaving any blemishes.
General precautions for people suffering from hyperpigmentation: stay out of the sun so that these areas don’t darken even more. If you can’t avoid the sun, wear hats, cover up. Along with it, eat a well-balanced diet, avoid cosmetics, avoid direct exposure of skin to sunlight and please do not self-medicate.

I’ve been suffering for hyper pigmentation on my face for a long time almost three years and during these years I’ve undergone treatment with various skin doctors but intermittantly and after using the medicine regularly I didn’t find any improvement, rather it increase the affected areas.
Prescribed medicine were Ist time – Betnovate C (1)/2004; 2nd time/2005 – ClearZ+Momate; 3rd Time/2006- Metalite+Momate+tretrine (These creams increased the problem); 4 time/2007 – Hyde+Desonite which I’m using presently from last One month. These medicines I’ve use intermittantly only when prescibed by doctors for the time frame
Meanwhile I also got done all testing regarding blood, urine and others and got that lever is little enlarged and to be control.
But now I fed up with all these treatments, also note that initailly I was having the sun exposure but since last One year I donot have much sun exposure, it is very less.
I’ve coincidently read your comments and belive that if Homeopathy can help me to get rid of this. Also suggest that whether enlarged lever also contribute to this or not. Pl. also prescribe some homeopathic treatment if possible.

I have been suffering from hormone (Pill) induced Melasma for roughly 2 years. At first it appeared on my forhead (which has slowly faded away and is now only slightly visible) and 6 months ago, a large spot under my left eye appered, along with more spots now under my right eye. I have found this odd as i have been taking the pill for 13years and never before have i had any skin problems from taking it. You’re Homeopatheic Therapy has intrigued me. I have had hyperpigmentation sice birth. When I was born I had two birth marks. As I grew they increased in no and size. I now have them all over my body and face. melasma or the pigmentation cannot be cured.it can be controlled.so wen u see the decrease in pigmentation ,it implies that u r responding well for treatments.and the reason for recurrence is sun .so avoid sun and use sunscreen of spf atleast 30 wen outdoors.this shud help u

I belong to jammu(j&k), I m un married and my age is 26.
My complexion is fair but my upper back and the front of my neck have brown spots.
Back has more of spots and the neck looks as if not washed properly (it gives uneven brownish colour that looks like as if it is not bathed properly).
Also my neck area is prone to sun burn ,I can’t go out in extreme summers without sunscreen on, the severe heat results in itching and darkening of neck and back.
The problem in almost 15 yrs. old.
I have shown it to various dermatologists overhere ,they say that this is permanent sun damage and it won’t go now.
I went to a beauty salon ,they told me that they will try minimizing it with enzyme peels, I have undergone 8 of these sittings ,but it has resulted in only 15% lessening of spots and that too more on the back area.Do u think continuing this will be beneficial?
I don’t want to waste more money on these peels if they are just temporary treatments.Kindly suugest me some treatment for these blemishes ,if u think these can be minimized to a greater extent.

I am from South Africa, a mixed Ethnicity, between White, Indian and Malay…I am 40 yrs, two teenage kids, good health & physically fit… I Don’t smoke, don’t drink any alcohol. use sunblock of spf atleast 30 in order to avoid further darkening.apply it 20 mins before going out in the sun…apply aloe vera gel at night time..do not use soap for washing face.use mild soap free facewash.result will be noticeable in 6 to 8 weeks

I am suffering from pigmentation for quite some time. I have dark visible marks on my cheek bone and around my mouth. These marks are quite depressing and embarrassing. I have been using a cream called Eumosome M. This cream helps in lightening the marks.

i am a 25-yr-old female frm kerala. i have been suffering frm hyperpigmentation since 2003. till then i had a medium complexion(near to fair) on the exposed areas and fair complexion on the covered areas. but in may 2003 i had to be in sun for almost 1 hour without any protection. i felt a burning sensation on my face and arms. wen i came home, my face, arms and legs were reddish in color and by the evening it became darker and darker. i knew i had sunburn and i consulted a dermatologist who told me that he could do nothing except prescribing sunblock. since then i have tried many way like applying turmeric. atlast by 2006 there was slight improvement. though my face remained dark and spotty, my neck became

I am 38 years old. I got a chemical peel on my skin @ age 26. Instead of clearing my skin, I developed severe dark patches of dark skin. I was prescribed hydroquonine for several years. To no avail, my melasma actually got worse. To think that I got the chemical peel to clear small imperfections and end up with this horrible condition makes little sense to me! I have had 2 children during the past 10 years, so I have been on great diets, excersize, had no medication and have followed all of the rules to carry healthy children and breast feed in addition. I’m a 34 yr old man of Indian descent. I used to have flawless fair skin but, since last 4.5 years I’ve been suffering from skin severe discoloration/pigmentation especially on my cheek bones and on my nose. Its a symmetrical or close, … Skin Discoloration . Last time when I was in India I went to through lazer treatment and it did wonder (only for like one year though). Now the discoloration is back and here My dermatologist says it’s Melasma .I’d been using a prescribed cream called Tri-Luma® Cream which helped a bit but,not really. My skin turned red during the day so, I had to stop using it. Later I started using another cream Melederm by Civant which is also did not help. I guess I’ve dry to oily skin may be mixed because once in a while I’ve also seen one or two outbreak (acne???) ,but I must say that I’ve very sensitive skin. I drink lots of water, eat healthy, use moisturizer and, always wear sunscreen (SPF 70+) never out in sun still its’ not helping. I feel embarrassed because the pigmentation is increasing rapidly.. Please advice what should I do now??

I had black marks on the cheeks and round the nose. I consulted a dermatologist and the analysis was Seborhec dermatitis. I was prescribed a cream called propyzole which i used for 15 days. Very good change was there. After that Dr prescribed me to use Melalite creame for removing the remaining black spots. Initially it worked. I was also using a moisturising creame called Venusia , because skin was getting dried up after washing. After 3 weeks i stopped melalite creame and then for 2 months, every thing was right. But again the same problem occured and i consulted another Dr and he gave me a creame called HH Zole, containing mometazone furoate. Again things improved but again it went worse. Burning and streching occured on the face and my old Dr told me it was due to the use of HH Zole. He asked me to apply calamine lotion at night and sunscreen lotion (Suncross gel ) , day time. Now my skin is very thin and much sensitive. Brown and dark spots are there and looks very ugly. I am not using the prescribed creame for the dark spots because i know that it will again appeare. I am also having dust allergy problems for which i’m not taking any medicine. i’m 33 years old male unmarried. Please help me in this situation.

When I began my tumultuous journey with melasma (hyperpigmentation of the skin) over 14 years ago, I had no idea how long the road would be that lied ahead. 14 years of trial and error, mistakes and misinformation led me to a condition that diminished my quality of life and shattered my self confidence. Only women with melasma can truly understand the negative effects this condition has on their way of life, their family and their social interaction. I have always kept life in perspective and was grateful for all of my blessings, however over time my melasma had taken over my life.
My bout with Melasma first began in 1994 after being prescribed Birth control pills (synthetic hormones) after two week, a very noticeable dark patch of skin appeared on upper cheek. My dermatologist diagnosed me with melasma and prescribed a bleaching cream which worked as long as I continued use. I stop using BCP right away. In 1997 The following summer I noticed another dark patch that seemed to appear overnight. I went back to my dermatologist and she prescribed that I should get Micro-dermabrasion and start using HQ 4% with Lustra. I used it and my both spots were gone in two weeks, I felt wonderful and of course I was 26 year old that time. In 1998, I start seeing those spots again on my face. They will get darker in summer and fade in winter. I went again to see same dermatologist, who is now in cosmetic business, not interested in treating but making money out of me. She told me to do Micro-dermabrasion again with same bleaching cream, I trusted her since, my first treatment worked fine. The patch began to slightly fade but was still very noticeable – leaving me to feel self conscious. In 2000 since I was getting more self conscious, I wanted to do whatever possible to resolve these dark patches on my face. I went to a same reputable dermatology center and they performed a chemical peel on my face which provided short term results, and very negative long term ill effects. In fact, I was later told that since I have olive skin, the procedure should have never been performed on me.
Shortly thereafter, I noticed that my spot were light and I start thinking may be I can’t do anything about it, so for almost 4 year I was not to much bothered by my blotches, I could hide it with little make-up In 2003- 2004 I went India spot got little darker as India is HOT, I used HQ 4% and start living my life. In year 2006 JUNE I visited India, hottest month of the year. My mother-in-law passed away, I did not care for sun and visited many places, and I always had my sunscreen. My blotches came back. In year 2007-08, I start preparing for My CPA exam, my stress level was in its peak. I changed my Sunscreen cream and went to beach since my kids love water. Overnight, I saw my blotches were bigger and darker. I was very, sad and desperate, start doing my own research, saw Tri-luma website, and went back to the dermatologist who prescribed Tri-Luma Hydroquinone Cream to be used daily for 4 weeks. I was also told that I could no longer be exposed to sunlight while I had this condition since it would only make it worse. I took chance, since I was going for HAJJ and going to meet my relatives after 12 year. My nightmare started as I left USA, my both cheeks were black (I mean totally BLACK) I was devastated. I spent countless hours finding the perfect UV protectant hat, the perfect sunscreen, make-up, cleansing wash, and start looking for every product on the market that guaranteed an instant cure. I am sure you have found out by now there is no cure, and all the money spent on all-hype, no results products are waste. Years of hiding under Duppatta, is making me so tired.
After several years of microdermabrasion, chemical peel topical ointments treatments, I realized that it just made things worse over time. My skin elasticity was gone and bleaching it for so many times was taking its toll on my skin. It finally dawned on me that the problem was internal and treating melasma topically was not the solution.

After reading all the above letters I feel a ray of hope for myself, I have been sufferrring from dark patches on my neck,forehead,nose and upperlip. These are growing darker day by day despite using sunscreens and vraious other allopathy,home,homeopathic treatments. I have tried all kinds of facials at beauty parlours(may be5 times) and was planning to go for laser treatment at Kaya or New Look centre. My neck and back patches were there since my second child was born in 1982 but not so visible, since throughout my life I have never worn dresses exposing my neck or back. I have a dark pigmentation around my upper lip and lower lid area which is slightly extended towards the cheeks (well explained area is where the boys keep French cut moustache.). I have consulted a dermatologist in my local area. I have been under medication for 6 months. The medications that I have gone through are
1. Radiant KC Forte + Halox Cream – at morning for 1 month. Then now I am only into Radiant KC.
2. Keracnyl Face Wash.
3. Kligmel – at night
This was the initial medication done. When I used Kligmel all the black spot were disappeared and I found a glow on face. But the moment I stopped the cream the pigmentation came back.
Then the doctor recommended few more creams.
1. Depiwhite- at morning
2. Radiant KC Forte- at morning
3. Melaglow- at night
4. Sunban Forte- 3 times a day
5. Cetaphil Lotion- at night
Which I continued for another month. By using all the pigmentation neither increased nor decreased.
Now after 6 months of medication my doctor has suggested for Neostrata Peel for 5 sittings. It is recommended that it will be the permanent solution. Since it is bit costly and as I am unaware of the result as well as the side effects I just want to know that should I go for it??
N B: I take OC pills as this was recommend by my Gyaenocologist as I don’t get my period regular and have follicles in my ovary. I have stopped it for a month to check whether its effecting in decreasing the pigmentation but it didn’t help.

Hair dye’s also cause the hyperpigmentation on face and it is hard to get rid off. If you are using any chemical based hair dye’s(which contains PPD), first stop using it immediately and after that take doctor’s advice on how to reduce the patches on the face.

I am 36 years old, having pigmentation from last 12yrs. I m having black dark pigments on both of my arms, face, around the neck and back. i am currently about five weeks pregnant. Is it safe for me to use Hyclean Cream for my dark spots (acne marks). and i am also using very light Adapalene and Clindamycin Phosphate Gel (acne spots). I bought these two meds from India, recommeded from Dermatologist and both med worked really good when i had bad acne. Now that i am pregnant.just want to make sure if i should continue using these meds,will it effect the fetus? or should i discontinue?

i think there is no treatment for melasma or hyper pigmentation. it may be due to some genetic disorder.it runs in some families. eventhough laser treatment is somewhat effective the pigmentation reappear after 2-3 months. waste of time and waste of money.it is better to have a masking makeup than to undergo useless treatment. hyperpigmentation cream avilable in the market are wastes .so try to bear the discomfort . the theory that the causes of melasma in males are hormone change and sunexposure is baseless. i dont have much sun exposure and my hormone profile is perfect. but i am a victim of melasma and so called melasma therapy for the last 7 years[my age is 46 years]

My son is doing X std. He is not having interest in studies. He wakes up in the morning very late. Even if I wake him up ,he does not get up from bed immediately.I have to shout many times and he is not interested to get rid of from the sleep.If I ask him to go for a small walking to get rid off from sleep, he do not go out saying it is cool outside. Iam from india bangalore, presently livin in london..my face was completely tanned and i when to skin specialist and he prescribed me momate and clearz cream and tablet called oxidon a vitamin tablet….but when i went to medicine center…the medical rep gave a wrong ointment of clearz tellin me that its a same ointment from different company..so i started applying this cream from 2007 and still using it and it gave a good result and removed all my tans and looked very fair…
now here am in to major trouble, the problem is if i stop using this ointment for 3 days my face turns to same dark and starts itching and am not using clearz ointment…
most important thing is after me having a oxidon tablet very day twice…it turned me into diabetic and the same thing happen to one of my friend aswell .as he consulted the same doctor….an had the same tablet and now he’s diabetic…

i have gone through all the above letters and i hope that my wife would get benefitted with ur help.sinc last 5 years we r fighting pillar to post for her hiper pigmentation.firs pigmentation started on neck then gradually face .it was light earlier and noe becoming darker and darker .all crems sunban have been used without any success. in 2009 she was operated for tumer on left overy .it was belign.one not cancer .alon with overy her utrus and right oery was also removed ntation still persists . now recntly her serum insulin was found to be on very high side for which glyrep medicine is being administered. her biopsy of the skin was also done adn found nothing except that pigmentation trickle down a little bit in lower skin .dr. said it is ashy dermatosis .presently she has pigmentation on both cheeks ,fore head ,neck hands etc .we have lost all hope it seems by allopathy it wont be cured .now everythig rests onu to cure my wife .please advice .mohan vaidya husband of a petient

Use Derma Roller Instead Laser or Chemical peel to remove scars, pigmentations, and other skin deceases. Laser or Dermatitis will show result after 6 months but Derma Roller shows earlier then Others, whether it has same result as others.
On June 8 a doctor applied 50% Glycolic Acid Chemical Peel on my face to remove Ice pick scars, but after that treatment I got improper skin development, before this treatment my not so bad as now, because my new skin is not developing properly and it seems that a part of skin layer had cutt of from my face. also i got hypo-pigmentation on my face, but it is fading. but my skin is very thin. Its too bad.
So I suggest Don’t think about chemical peel.
Derma Roller is the best option, It gives the same result as laser or others. Buy Derma Roller because if dont get any benefit from this then also not get any side effect. All other options may damage your skin then you have now.

please advice i had clear face and i am 32 years old unmarried girl. i had pimples during my school days. One or two pimplease i never had full face filled with pimplease. at the age of 18 it vanished all and i had clear face after that. i never had any kind of birth controlling pills till this age. only during my young age i use to take one pain killer during my periods. My periods are normal and all 4 days and fifth day spotting. I never had sexsual relationship.
Six months back i had black spot on my left cheek on the top where the bone is below under eyes. That black spot turned into brownish color and is spread a little. Whereas 2 months back i could see brown small spread patches on my right cheek. It looks bad as my face looks not clear skin it gives patchy skin impression. I had blackness around my lips corners both sides almost one and a half year back. I applies koji plus tube prescibedby doctor and it vanished.
But , i wonder how on mt cheeks these browm patches had come. Where there is no herideity in family of this. Please advice what should i do as earlier it was on left cheek now it has come on right cheek as well.
Should i go for homeopathy or allopathy treatment? Can it be due to as i am not married and no sexsual relationship till this age? whereas hormones changes or maybe not married due to this age can give hormones changes.
My last periods were also very strange whereas i had periods only for one and a half day. Whereas i eat healthy food lot ofmilk, paneer, juice and fruits etc . So how come very less periods… which i never faced during my this age.

I am 58 years old, Asian skin. I have pigmentation/melasma on my cheeks for about 6 years. I am very frustrated and dont have any confident. I tried everything the best I can (Fr Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, USA), but there is no improvement significant. ( I used Obagi, neostrata, laser, peel), and I am very dicipline person, so I follow all of Dermatologist advices, but the spot still there and i can see darker. I feel I dont want to see anybody else because of it, before this melasma and pigmentation happened to me, I really have beautiful skin and bright, gloomy skin. I dont like using make up, unless I must go to formal occasion. My general health is normal, but I have digestive, gastric problem when I eat not right ( such as too much vinegar, or oranges, pasta, hot spicy foods). My dermatologist has suggested for neostrata peel for 6 sittings, do you think this is a good way to heal ? beside it is costly and I already tried different type of chemical peel as well. Now I am using obagi rx, my skin so thin, as soon as i stop it coming back the spot even darker.

I am having pigmentation mark on both check and forehead on nose it is getting more tanted/brown spot day by day. I did use cosmolite cream…..somtimes the spots become light but sometimes it apears ver dark….i also use lime juice and honey on face which help slightly.. I live here in Karachi Pakistan. i am Indian and I burnt my both cheeks from facial bleach 2 years ago,Dermatologist( In Australia gave me Hydroquinone but it has given me even more pigmentation.Did few sessions of laser but it didn’t help at all.
Now i have given up everything just using 0.5% Retinol every night,Pigmentation looks darker in the house but looks bit lighter in natural light.

2 year back. on applying hhsone. i got pigmentation..after 5 chemical peeings. the pigmetation problem gone.. but sudden since one month i got once again pigmentaion on my forehead… i again consulted doctor. he given dipwhite, dipyln lotion. den desodine lotion. after dat efficort(hydrocortisone) cream. but no use.. i changed the doctor he given me fusidic acid cream(to reduce the red ichiness on the face) it really works…
