Pigmentation and its Homeopathic Treatment
Facial discoloration is asymptomatic (without any symptoms) but is of great cosmetic concern, resulting in psychological stress. The most common reasons are pregnancy and exposure to sun. During pregnancy the hormone level can increase the body’s production of melanin, a pigment that tints the skin.
The result is chloasma (also known as melasma or the mask of pregnancy), irregular brown patches on t he forehead, nose, and checks. Women with darker complexions are more prone to developing chlosma. Other pigmented areas, such as birthmarks and freckles, may darken as well. One may also notice a brown line down the abdomen, from the belly button to the public bone, called linea nigra.
Most of these pigmented areas lighten again a few months after delivery, though they may not clear up completely. It is also common in pregnant women, those who are taking oral contraceptives (the “Pill”), and those taking hormone replacement therapy during menopause. Sun exposure is also a strong risk factor for melasma. It is particularly common in tropical climates.
Sepia (homeopathic medicine) is of utmost importance in treating discoloration occurring after pregnancy. In fact, it is apt for what one would call a post-pregnancy syndrome ? a brownish saddle like appearance spreading across the nose, backache, easily fatigued constitution, heightened mental sensitivity and irritability. Other medicines that are important in treatment are arsenic album and conium maculatum.
Sun-damaged skin or sunspots, medically called lentigos, and commonly referred to as liver spots, are a product of sun exposure. This exposure is cumulative and not directly related to sunburn on a specific day.
Homeopathy does not advocate the use of creams and ointments in skin disorders. It believes that skin disorders are a reflection of inside and need to be treated from within. Another strong opinion that homeopaths propagate is that any external application can lead to the suppression of the disease and result in a more serious systemic disorder. A well-prescribed homeopathic medicine not only takes care of hyperpigmentation but also treats as a whole and improves general health as well.
Homoeopathic medicines treat the hormonal imbalance and thus control the excessive production of melanin. The texture of the skin also improves. The occurrences of new patches reduce and ultimately stop. The skin slowly reverts to its normal condition without leaving any blemishes.
General precautions for people suffering from hyperpigmentation: stay out of the sun so that these areas don’t darken even more. If you can’t avoid the sun, wear hats, cover up. Along with it, eat a well-balanced diet, avoid cosmetics, avoid direct exposure of skin to sunlight and please do not self-medicate.

Respected sir, i am 38 yrs old. From past two months i find brown small dots and cluster of brown paches on my upper bone of the cheek and nose. I start using kojic acid with vitamin c. It works but i am scared it might errupt again. patches are not gone entirely. There r deep Brown frackel also. If you suggest me homeopathy medicine i will be highly obliged.

hello doctor, my problem is very different.i have pigmentation or u can say black areas on my nose sides my upper liparea and hole area around lips like a french cut but no hair are there and under eyes area is also black ,the very black area is my chin area it seams like a dark black spot . accept this my face colour is fair . i went to many doctors but somewhere it increased some where remained same .i m 20 years old and these dark spots are from 4 to 5 years . i m taking medicine that called VULGARIS,ARSENIC 30 ,CHINA 30 FROM 4 MONTHS but result is 0 .so if u can please help me out.. i will be really thank full to u.

I have a dark pigmentation around my upper lip and lower lid area which is slightly extended towards the cheeks (well explained area is where the boys keep French cut moustache.). I have consulted a dermatologist in my local area. I have been under medication for 6 months. The medications that I have gone through are
1. Radiant KC Forte + Halox Cream – at morning for 1 month. Then now I am only into Radiant KC.
2. Keracnyl Face Wash.
3. Kligmel – at night
This was the initial medication done. When I used Kligmel all the black spot were disappeared and I found a glow on face. But the moment I stopped the cream the pigmentation came back.
Then the doctor recommended few more creams.
1. Depiwhite- at morning
2. Radiant KC Forte- at morning
3. Melaglow- at night
4. Sunban Forte- 3 times a day
5. Cetaphil Lotion- at night
Which I continued for another month. By using all the pigmentation neither increased nor decreased.
Now after 6 months of medication my doctor has suggested for Neostrata Peel for 5 sittings. It is recommended that it will be the permanent solution. Since it is bit costly and as I am unaware of the result as well as the side effects I just want to know that should I go for it??
N B: I take OC pills as this was recommend by my Gyaenocologist as I don’t get my period regular and have follicles in my ovary. I have stopped it for a month to check whether its effecting in decreasing the pigmentation but it didn’t help.
Please suggest me what I should now.

I’ve been suffering for hyper pigmentation on my forehead (hardly 1 Inch) for a long time almost 17 years and during these years I’ve undergone treatment with 3 doctors but after using the medicine regularly I didn’t find any improvement, neither increase nor decrease the affected area. Prescribed medicine was last time Arsenic Album 200.
Right now, I am using from last 2 months Pigmento ointment . These medicines I’ve used or using only prescribed by doctors.
But now I fed up with all these treatments.

Hi,
Hair dye’s also cause the hyperpigmentation on face and it is hard to get rid off. If you are using any chemical based hair dye’s(which contains PPD), first stop using it immediately and after that take doctor’s advice on how to reduce the patches on the face.

I have Melasma on my cheekbone area, couple of patches on forehead and on upper lip area. I visited doctor and he told me that I have Melasma. I have never been pregnant and once I used birth control pills just for five days. After that I never used birth pills. I never had this problem and not even in my family ever. I am not sure is it because of birth control pills or of sun exposure. I am at USA and never used sun screen before I got Melesma. So may be sun is the reason.
1. Can intake of birth pills of five days be the reason of Melasma?

Have tried my home remidies.for the past 2yrs.I have very little or you can say no explouser to SUN.
Still these spots are getting darker.
