Nasal Polyps and Homeopathy

polyp If you constantly suffer from blocked or a stuffy feeling in the nose, reduced or complete loss of smell and constantly running or dripping of mucous in the nose, there are chances that these symptoms could be a result of a polyp in your nose. Nasal polyps are fleshy growths on the linings of the nose or sinuses. They vary in size and are shaped like a tear drop; with a narrow neck joined to the nasal lining. Nasal polyps are non cancerous growths which occur due to an inflammation in the mucous membranes (lining) of the nose and sinuses. Homeopathic treatment of nasal polyps is very effective as it gives permanent relief and also homeopathic medicines can effectively cure the underlying disorders like chronic colds asthma and allergies.

What causes nasal polyps?

Polyps occur due to chronic inflammation in the lining of the nose. Although the reason for this chronic inflammation is not clear but polyps tend to occur more in those who suffer from chronic nasal problems like sinusitis , chronic colds , asthma and nasal allergies. Chronic inflammation causes the blood vessels in the lining of the nose to become more porous, causing them to accumulate lot of water in the cells. When over a period of time gravitational force acts on these heavy water-laden mucous lining, polyps develop.

What are the symptoms of polyps?

Small polyps cause no symptoms at all. Larger ones can cause obstruction in the air passages of the nose causing stuffiness or blocked sensation. When they obstruct the discharge from the sinus openings, polyps lead to chronic sinusitis (inflammation in sinuses). When they obstruct the air from reaching the sensitive area in the nose which carries the sensation of smell to the brain, the sense of smell gets affected. There can be a total loss of smell or partial loss. Post nasal drip (sensation of mucous running down from back of the throat). This is mainly due to mucous dripping down from a polyp. Other symptoms include headache, snoring and a permanently runny nose. Large polyps can cause difficulty in breathing while lying down, causing the patient to breathe from mouth.

How does homeopathy help in treating nasal polyps?

Homeopathic treatment for those who suffer from nasal polyps can be a big boon. It can help them save from the surgeon?s knife. Not only does it speedily remove the polyps, it also helps in stopping their recurrences by treating the underlying causes such as allergies asthma or chronic cold. Homeopathic medicine Sanguinaria is very effective in treating polyps that result out of chronic colds. Homeopathic medicine Teucrium is very effective for large polyps which cause complete loss of smell. Teucrium is also more effective in treating polyps that in the posterior part of the throat. Calcarea Carb, along with the removal of polyps also treats the body?s tendency to develop them over again.

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine. This means that homeopathy treats the human being as a whole. Detailed mental and physical symptoms of the whole being are taken into consideration while prescribing. This form of homeopathic treatment is called as ?constitutional treatment?. In cases where the polyps are due to deep seated chronic disorders like asthma or allergies this constitutional treatment is usually taken up by homeopathic physicians.

My six year old son catches cold very often. There is inflammation in his nostrils. They are visibly blocked and he has difficulty breathing through nose. As a result he breathes through mouth. His voice has turned hoarse (husky).

I will really appreciate if you could please suggest a homeopathy remedy for the same.

    Dear friends,

I too have been suffering congestion in the nose which as we all know and feel is very discomforting. I am not a medical doctor however I have had surgery and many treatments, Just thought I could share that in order to breath I had been using otrivin on a regular basis for a period of 2 years. after losing my sense in smell the doctor explained to me that otrivin should not be used to relief congestion since it tends to have a rebound effect making you worst than you were when you started.

  12. Patrick Zakhary on November 26th, 2007 3:03 am

i have had tonsils removed, surgery on adenoid and turbinate both provided temporary relief. The polyp was surgically removed once again returned, it is truthfully affecting my daily life in the sense that i have problems sleeping due to the feeling of suffocation and has created other feelings of anxiety and stress. I fear doing physical activity due to the sense that I am not getting enough air. If anyone has any idea of something please inform me. I have just started taking avamys and prednisone ill post how it worked out. please email me if something works for you jz589563@albany.edu

I am suffering from nasal polyps and got Funtinal Endoscopic Sinus Surgery done at AIIMS, New Delhi in sept 2001. Now again they have recurred and doctors at AIIMS prescribe again FESS which I reluctantly accepting. but meanwhile I would like to try Homeopathy sincerely as many are advocating. The probelm aggravates in winter and this causes me to snore very heavily with other getting deeply disturbed and sleep apnoea is setting in some times. I would be greatly obliged that necessary homeo treatment be suggested.

I cannot breathe normally. There is always an incedent of a blocked nose.
I have a deviated septum. And Polyps. My sense of smell has diminished.
My snoring is at it’s height.I have sleep apnea..now and again.Sometimes one side of the nose opens up and sometimes the other…often both sides are closed/blocked hence I resort to breathing from my mouth thereby encouraging dirty air and unclean air to get to my throat causing a cough and irritation. I have post nasal drip and a uvula that is affected…
Is there somebody up there who can help me get cured…by homoeopathy.
The surgeon Kirtane is ready to do the needful. Is it safe and will I never suffer again after the surgery…..
Enquire inside notes say that Tecurium is the right H medicine..Some say it affects the rythm of the heart…is that so Doctor….
Please reply for the nenefit od all.

I am also suffering from a blocked nose which I had for about 6 months. I take a nasal spray, but trying to limit it only to night times. I basically suffer with it all through the day, breathing through my mouth. It’s really an exhausting problem to have! Just lately I’ve been giving myself a nasal wash, but to no avail. It helps a bit for about 30minutes and then I’m back to a stuffy head again!
Please — can you help me!

    Dear Sir
I am a long nasal polyps sufferer. I have undergone three nasal polyps removal surgeries so-called Polyctomnia. Obviously the polyps re-grow.I have tried everything over-the-counter but it had failed me completely.
I ordered an homeophatic remedy Sinuswar from USA and unfortunately it also had turned out to be not so effective as I had expected. I set the date of the next surgery for the 18 th of July 2008 but I am doing my best to avoid that a painful procedure.
I wish to get rid of the nasal polyps once and for all but I am wondering if it is possible at all? I am an spray nasal steroid taker. I take care of myself in order to prevent from the common cold indeed by wearing a winter hat all year round etc
In fact I live currently in the windy country - UK but I used to live in Poland for many years now and the sinus problem was getting even worser especially in winter time.
Could help me somehow Sir please? otherwise the painful procedure must be carried out over and over again until my the end of my lifetime but I am still a young man wanting to enjoy with life.

    kind regards
    Daniel

I have several nasal polyps inside my nose. Then I have some growing on the outside and one so large on the outside it almost block my right nasal passage. Another small one at the entrance of my nasal passage.
It has been a real challenge trying to get a doctor to take me as a patient.

One doctor stated that he saw them in my throat and that is why I’m having trouble breathing,

I just got an appointment with another doctor and hopefully he can help me.

I’m also 12 weeks pregnant. If you have any suggestions for treatment please let me know.

I have been diagnosed with nasal polyposis. My doctor is also a homeopathist and tells me to avoid the following: chocolate, yellow cheese, hot drinks, cereal, nuts and Cola. Can you confirm the efficacy of such treatment, and motivate your answer. In addition, should I purchase Teucrium and Sanguinaria ?
My sense of smell has been impaired, and with it my sense of taste. Is this to be a permanent condition , or can you offer some hope ?
Also please advise for how long I can expect relief after a polypectomy before the polyps reappear (that is if they do) ?

Got something to say?
