Homeopathic Treatment of Wet Weather Asthma ![]()
With monsoon hitting northern India this week, it is a great joy for many. But for some, this weather is not at all pleasant. Humid weather in the monsoons is the worst period for some of the asthmatics. A well directed homeopathic treatment before or even during the wet weather, could help the patients by reducing a great amount of suffering.
There are certain homoeopathic medicines that are used only for treating asthma, that aggravates in wet weather. They offer a great promise in treating this kind of asthma.
Let?s try and answer a basic question first. Why do some asthmatics suffer more or only in wet weather? It is because they have what is called ?Mold Allergy?. Molds need a high humidity level in air to thrive, so in wet weather especially during the monsoons when there it is hot and wet their growth and presence is at the maximum.. Most of the times, asthma is an allergic reaction, which means that body?s own defence system is attacking substances which it recognises as foreign one and tries to destroy them. It is during this interaction that a substance (which is responsible for all the symptoms of allergy) is produced. This substance is called as histamine. So when some one has asthma more or only in wet weathers we know that it is the persons own defence system which is reacting to molds.
It is not exactly molds but small particles produced by them called as ?spores? that cause the main allergy. Inhaled mold spores…the spores from the mold get lodged in the air pathways usually cause the reaction. The symptoms caused by them are similar to other allergic asthma- difficult breathing, wheezing and also may be accompanied by nasal congestion, sneezing, watery and itching eyes, , rashes, coughing, sore throat and postnasal drip.
There are thousands of types of molds, fortunately only a few are responsible for this kind of allergy. Their seeds or reproductive particles are known as spores. Spores are the actual culprits that cause these allergies. One single growth of mold can generate millions of spores. Rotting logs and vegetation (pile of leaves etc.) are prime habitat for molds, as are damp walls and carpet. Molds live and thrive at room temperature. Molds are present Inside homes too-, bathrooms, , house plants, , refrigerator, foam pillows, washing machines, and furniture.
Homoeopathy for asthma
Homeopaths have always disagreed with the conventional medical systems about their belief that asthma cannot be totally cured. Although it would be unjust and an over-generalisation that if homeopaths claim that all such patients can be totally cured. The truth is that asthma is a constitutional disorder and needs to be holistically treated, to uproot it in totality. Homoeopathic medicines Natrum sulphuricum and Dulcamara are one of the most effective medicines in treating asthma that gets triggered or aggravates in humid weather. Natrum sulphuricum solves two other purposes. First it serves as a fortifying agent for the body and prevents the recurrent attacks of asthma. Second and the most important aspect is that it is a leading a constitutional medicine for treating asthma in children. It is a deep acting medicine and can uproot the disease in totality.
Such disorders are usually chronic in nature and are best treated with help of a professional homoeopath.
