Urticaria and homeopathic treatment
Commonly called as “Chaapa-ki” in our native Hindi, Urticaria is not a very pleasant thing to have. It is marked by raised patches on the skin with redness and a lot itchy feeling. Acute episodes of Urticaria are common and many people do experience this nearly once in their lifetime; this acute short episode goes away on its own and usually requires no medicine. When Urticaria lasts for more than six weeks, it is called as “chronic Urticaria”. Such form of Urticaria can last for months and years together, if left untreated. Homeopathy has a very promising role in the treatment of chronic Urticaria. The long term results with homeopathic medicines are very encouraging and sustainable.
Urticaria rashes can affect any area of the body; they are usually small elevated red patches and are often called as weals in medical terminology. Weals are usually 1-2 cm across but can vary in sizes. They usually are circular in shape but can be of any shape. Weals usually last upto 24 hours or even longer at times. One area or the whole body can be affected. Feeling of stiffness and stretching along with intense itching are very common symptoms in Urticaria. The rashes may gradually clear only to return sometime later. In about one half of the patients with chronic Urticaria, angio-oedema occurs; this is a swelling caused by leakage of fluid into the deeper tissues of the skin.
What exactly causes is not absolutely clear but auto immune factor is supposed to be the most common trigger for chronic Urticaria. This means that body’s own defense cells attack the cells of the skin to cause Urticaria symptoms. Food allergies, which are often thought to be the culprit ,are in reality not a common reason for chronic Urticaria. Chronic infections, drugs that are used in treating blood pressure and diseases like thyroid disorders often form a reason for Urticaria. A condition which is very commonly present in cases of chronic Urticaria is ‘Physical Urticaria’. The symptoms of Urticaria are triggered by exposure to hot or cold environment, sunlight, physical exertion and pressure on skin. Many patients with chronic Urticaria have sensitive skin and develop raised red lines with any pressure or scratching of the skin.
Homeopathy provides an excellent solution for those who suffer from chronic Urticaria. Although the treatment can take time and it is only gradually that the patient can reach a stage where this problem can be completely cured. Two medicines that I would rank at the top, for treating Urticaria from its base are Sulphur and Astacus Fluviatilis. Sulphur is a very important homeopathic medicine for treating chronic obstinate Urticaria, but remember it can be a ‘double edged sword’ and should be used only under the directions of the homeopathic physician. Apis mel ( made from the bee sting) is another homeopathic medicine that is often used with great success in homeopathy for treating chronic as well as acute forms of Urticaria . It is also very effective in treating Urticaria where angio-oedema (swelling) is also present.

My Spouse is suffering from Chronic Urticaria, since March, 08.
We have referred to several doctors, undergone Blood Tests, Urine Test, Stool Examination, Chest X-Ray, Thyroid Test etc., but, none of the tests could diagonise the exact cause.
To explain the symptoms, it starts of with Red Patches with Itching, restlessness, followed with Sneezing.
It is requested to suggest remedies.

I’ve been suffering from chronic urticaria followed by angio-edema for the past 18 years. All my tests are normal including the IGe levels. I was under treatment with Life force (Dr Rajesh Shah) and other homeopaths for considerable period like 6-18 months respectively but in vain.

first onset of chronic urticaria was on 1987 and lasted over a year. it came back on 2005 and have been suffering from it ever since. it is very severe and have had all sorts of tests. have taken all kinds of medications such steroids all kinds of antihistamines and also been on cyclsporine on three different occasions.At the moment I’m on antihistamines twice a day with no relief at all. I keep changing antihistamines every now and then. I live with very severe rashes ervery single day.

I m having urtacaria since 2007 i took all kind of treatment .allopathic ,ayurvedic ,unani,homeopathic. but i m still suffering with this desase.allopathec can control my urtacaria for one to two days .i took 7-8 month homepatahy medicine it helped me.after 8 months i stopped medcine myself after that i was quite well but now a days this uracaria problem again started .
I again started medicine (Homeo).I m taking Alb 10 m , Evry 120
,washer woven rlus tox ,Dulcamara,borists uracaria etc.
is these medicine effective.

I m 21 year old medical student.
I think they had given me H1 Antihistamine also some other.I took continuously Cetirizine hydrochloride 10 mg for 4 n half month. but when i stop taking medicine after 3 or 4 days i got rashes and itching.
bcz of these i cant sleep well at night , i m being upset most of time, can’t concentrate on my study & other work

I have been suffering from Chronic Uriticaria since August 2009. I have also gone through all sorts of Blood Test, Allergy Test, Thyroid Test, EFC, etc. Nothing has helped me until now.
I have also taken different types of anti-histamines, i.e., Histop, Allegra, Levocetrizine, and as described by my doctor.

hi i am 21 years old and suffereing from chronic cholinergic urticaria. It is confined to teh scalp for the most part though sometimes i see lesions on the face. Could you suggest some natural remedies? i am also currently taking anti-histamines with some benefit.

I am 58 years old man,a patient of Urticaria last 32 years but some times it stops automatically without medicine or after blood donation. During 32 years three or four times it got stopped & started automatically after 4/5 years interval.
It s last treatment was taken and got cured three years ago. Now I am again suffering from Jan-2010 and contiued till date, however same homeopathy medicine is being repeated as it was taken three years ago but this time that medicines are not so effective it was three years ago.

FYI: I have had chronic urticaria for about a year now. I have finally found the cause, which seems to be constipation. I have been chronically constipated for years now. I am 24 years old, and am under treatment for chronic constipation and chronics urticaria. Your need to realize what is wrong with your body yourself. Understand your body and how it reacts to different things. Urticaria can be due to many reasons, even chemical dyes. Another important aspect is any underlying illness, which in my case is constipation. Have been under treatment and taken vaccination under immunotherapy from dermatologist- am allergic to house dust, mites, pigeon feathers, weeds, grass & certain food substances. I have had chronic Urticaria now for almost 3 years ago, I tried too many medicine unfortunately it didn’t work,
The thing is I always has allergy when I got stressed, walked in the sun, sit in hot weather,.etc

all am just doing is putting cold water and ice on my skin when allergy occurs this reduce the hives and make it go within 1 or 2 hrs!
lately I took antihistamine (atarax) unfortunately I got allergy attack from it when I went to the dr he gave me singualair 10ml but the allergy didnt go and it ends up that I took cortisone injection(IM) the rashes on my skin went away but started to appear again after hours! although when I took cortisone before all rashes disappear immediately, please doctor I need your advice.
please also note that I made many blood test like CBC, thyroid ,Romatoid, Ige and it was normal all I have is an anemia
