ADHD and Homeopathy
In year 2004, there were more than 28 million prescriptions written by American Physicians for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drugs (ADHD) and within 4 years only, this number grew from 28 million to 39 million. The federally funded large study conducted by “The Washington post” for adhd confirmed that despite of the soaring numbers of ADHD drugs prescribed for children, the differences between those who were medicated continuously to those who weren’t were zero. (Vedantam, 2009)
Today hyperactivity and its associated syndromes like ADHD or ADD (attention deficit disorder) are among the top childhood psychiatric disorders in America. Ritalin, which is also popularly known as “Vitamin R” is the most common drug that is used to treat children suffering from ADHD and ADD.
It is confusing and surprising to discover that Ritalin ( conventional medicine for adhd) is an amphetamine-like drug. It is not shocking for one to think that it would further increase the hyperactivity level of an already hyperactive child. However, it tends to slow down a hyperactive child. The use of drug follows the basic principle of homeopathic medicine i.e. treating a patient by using a drug that causes symptoms that are similar to symptoms of a patient. (curing likes with like)
Ritalin along with some selected conventional drugs like nitroglycerin, digitalis, allergy shots, colchicine, and vaccination are known to cause several symptoms that they treat. Regardless of this fact, none of these medicines is seen as a complete “Homeopathic medicine”. Homeopaths make use of safer and smaller doses of their medicines; also, these medicines are prescribed according to the seriousness of a patient.
As per the research, Ritalin and other drugs may produce only short term benefits for children experiencing ADD or ADHD symptoms. Newsweek noted that no long term researches or studies are conducted to reassure that these drugs are not causing any unknown havoc to their child.
Some of the common side effects of ADHD/ADD drugs are anxiety, restlessness, headaches, tremors, dizziness, allergic reactions, abdominal discomfort, increased blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, and psychosis (including hallucination). Children taking these drugs also experience loss of appetite and some face dramatic height reduction. When a medicine that can cause harmful systematic effects like causing reduction in child’s height, one has to admit that these drugs can also produce some other considerably serious effects on their lives.
Therefore it makes sense for doctors and patients to find out safer ways of treating ADD/ADHD symptoms before choosing conventional drugs. Homeopathic medicines are a safer alternative and there are many studies that have confirmed great results and safer cures. However, at present, there are only few studies testing homeopathic medicines for their effectiveness and not all of them have confirmed the efficacy of treatment. Safe homeopathic medicines and studies showing benefits of homeopathic care are reasonable enough for one to consider them before resorting to over the counter medicines and harmful therapeutic measures. More researches and studies are certainly warranted in the coming time.

sir, namaste. my daughter, tanvi goel, 14 yrs old, suffering with ADHD / Autism. but she has been given ADHD treatment, for 10 yrs, by allopathic medicines.she is now most of the time sleepy during these vaccations. remains alone, do not play with her sister, speaks unclear, shows no interest in studies, as compared 4 yrs ago, eats little. now she is in special school. she is rigid in her routine, like dress, watching movies, no social behaviour. we are not giving her allopathic medicine for 1 month.she remains almost quiet, sometime agitated. can she b benefiited by ur treatment. would it have any sidee effect.

My 3 yr old son is found to be overactive. Upto 2 yrs we found to be normal-repeating our words like tata, atta, showing fan,etc. but after 2 yrs we observed that gradually decreasing his attention,become restless,overactive. Now he sleeps night at around between 11:00 to 12:00hardly and wakes up at 6:30am and afternoon he sleeps for 1 hour.But we can say that he is not that much ADHD- because when we call him he turn to us,when we say not to do some particular task ,he stops.He is not gaining weight for last 8 months (present 10 KGs). We hav’nt prefered halopathic treatment. Now we r started homeopathic treatment and giving him speach therapy also.
pls give ur comment whether my kid become like a normal boy with homeopathy & speachtherapy and other what kind of steps to be taken to bring him to normal conditions

My son is autistic , as wel adhd, he is taking ritalin , I been reading about stramonium for hiperactivity can I give him both?
My daughter disha mohite 5 yrs old is suffering from ADHD having severe attention problem and hyperactivity. She is undergoing a treatment with Dr. Anaita Hegde. We are giving her tablet inspiral 10mg in morning and at night 0.5mg respiredon aprt from that her ot session are on. Initially dr. said to give her medicine in the evening that is inspiral 10 mg we did so at that time her school councellor and principal complaint that she was more aggresive at school and does not sit at one place she roams around. But gradually after intake of medicine after a month her behaviour calmed down and could see some improvement in her.Later after 3 months doc called us and she suggested taht you give her tab inspiral 10 mg in morning so that in school she will be attentive and less hyper we did so. Again after giving her medicine in morning i.e. recently we observed total changes in her behaviour her hyperactivity increased, more aggressive, started spelling words wherever she could see. And now her school reopened after diwali her teacher complaint that she did not sit at one place and when shouted on her she pulled the bench. When spoken with doc she said it is due to medicine so you start her giving half tab for a week and then you can try giving her full tab. Can you please suggest can we go for a homeopathy treatment and will it not be a slow process than giving her allopathy? What are the side effects og inspiral 10 mg will adhd be recovered more faster by homeopathy treatment then compared to allopathy.?
Our son aged 14 was diagnosed with ADHD about 5 years back. He was prescribed Addwize and Arpizol, which are still continuing. Adwize has been replaced with Addwize OD 18.
Can we also prescribe to your homeopathic medication? If yes what would be the duration of medication and the cost?
