AUTISM AND HOMEOPATHY – a miraculous cure
A Cured case of Autism
Homeopathy is much more of a choice than people often think it to be. One of its philosophy’s greatest breakthroughs is the realization that the body is not an object but a process with no pre-ordained limits. The scorching, cruel heat of summer was just setting in the first year of the new century when Mr and Mrs Puri (not their real names) approached us with their only child Ravi (not his real name) who was then four. Two years earlier, at the age of two, he was diagnosed as being autistic. We tested him on the ATEC (Autism Testing and Evaluation Checklist) and his rating was in the moderate to high category. His problem was more in speech/communication and sensory/cognitive areas. Besides the classical symptoms of autism, the symptoms that actually led us to prescribe Carcinocin were the history of an early eruption of teeth and hairiness. A leading characteristic of Carcinocin is the desire for milk. There are many symptoms – a sweaty head, when sleeping, and physical heat in general; difficulty in falling asleep; the desire for things salty and for chocolate-like energetic foods. Than there are internal restlessness and fidgetiness and love for dancing. Strong passion, sexuality and a very strong family history of cancer in the family are also noticed. The remedy was the boy?s similimum if there ever was one! Fitting him like a glove, the treatment has worked. Ravi has suffered no aggravation in the two years he has been on and off this remedy.
The dosage chosen for him was similarly fitting ? the LM dose. Positive results were obvious within the first month. Babbling turned into more formative words, hyperactive behaviour became rare and he started obeying simple commands. His self-stimulatory behaviour, too, was nearly gone.
Very soon a big achievement came when Ravi started interacting with children and started playing with them. He is now five and is attending a normal school. There are still vestigial signs of his former autism though these are not really apparent to teachers or anyone else besides us (parents and the physicians). For example, his language is occasionally awkward. In moments of stress (e.g. if he is sick), he retreats into himself and utilizes echolalia as a speech strategy. To sum it up, none but the very discerning can make out that Ravi had this serious problem
I would now like to enlighten the readers about the intricacies and the sensitive approach necessary for the homeopathic intervention. Autism poses a challenge to homeopaths. It needs a hardcore-Hahnemannian approach. Valuable symptoms including reaction to vaccines, family medical history, thermal sensitivities and sleep postures form a part of the very detailed information that a physician would need.
For the parents whose kids are undergoing such intervention, the stimulus/reaction model of symptoms and its significance to the homeopath need to be clearly understood.
As the autistic child experiences stress, he respond with a reaction. This reaction becomes a symptom or a sign of characteristic importance. The real challenge is to understand what the child is expressing both verbally (if he is articulate) and nonverbally. By fully perceiving the patient, one may learn to understand the individual?s cycle of stress and response. It is only through such a deep understanding that a homeopath is able to prescribe effectively. The improvement following such intervention also needs to be evaluated regularly on the autism-rating scale. The extent to which the cure can occur has a great degree of variability associated with it.
Two medicines require a special mention for their effectiveness in the treatment of autism ? Carcinocin and Secretin (Secretin as a homeopathic medicine is highly diluted and potentised). Secretin is supposed to neutralise the excess levels of peptides. This medicine has been found useful in cases of autism where loose stools are often an important symptom along with the classical symptoms of the autism spectrum. Another important aspect of the homeopathic treatment of autism is the usage of LM potencies… Homoeopathic medicines in this scale are faster acting and at the same time gentler. It is able to hold the “slipping back” of the old symptoms and can be used for a longer period with frequent repetitions.
Homeopathy is undergoing a very strong resurgence in the modern medical world, and one of the main reasons for it is its recent role in treating such illnesses. Homeopathic philosophy is a constant reminder that the greatest healing power lies within the body itself.

Autism and Homeopathy
Autism is a childhood disorder begins in early childhood (typically during the first three years of life) which affects the child?s communication skills, social interactions, and causes restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior in varying degrees. Autism (also called as autism spectrum disorder or pervasive developmental disorder) can range from severe to a very milder form. This mild form is called as asperger syndrome. The actual cause for autism is not clear.
Autism in the first two years of life is slightly difficult to diagnose. Parents are usually the first ones to notice the symptoms, which in the first two years of life are otherwise slightly difficult to find out; usually it is the nonresponsive behavior in the first two years that may make the parents feel concerned. In cases where the child has been growing normally, his sudden withdrawal from social interactions, nonresponsive behavior along with losing that little amount of speech that he had gained initially, may lead the parents to get their toddler screened for this disorder.
By the age of three, autism spectrum disorder can be clearly diagnosed. Children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) may not follow regular developmental pattern like other kids of their age. Verbal and non verbal communication, social interaction and patterns of repetitive behavior (also called as fixations)-like being fixated with carrying some object in the hand all the time e.g. Sticks ,pencils, soap suds etc. Rocking, spinning, excessively arranging things in one line and Behavioral issues like hyperactive behavior and inability to understand emotions are a part of this disorder for some kids.
Autism is nowadays called as autism spectrum disorder as there is huge variation of symptoms that the child might suffer from. Key features that should help the parents in identifying this disorder are child?s inability to babble or make meaningful gestures (like social smile, pointing to objects like fan etc,) by 18 months of age. Inability to speak even a single word by the age of two, having a poor or no eye contact, giving the impression as if he is hard of hearing when being called out to. The ?not in tune? behavior of child is the most important differentiating symptom although it is not very easy for a lay person to identify it.
Homeopathy for treating autism in kids is gaining quite a popularity all over the world. Clinical experience shows that results are much better when the treatment is started at an earlier age ,even though at higher ages like six or seven some kids do show remarkable improvements; but Homoeopathic intervention at an early age(before much behavioral and emotional issues come up) has distinct advantages. One important aspect that I would clearly like to mention is the fact that results with homeopathy in treating autism are selective. This means that where one segment of kids may respond extremely favorable to the treatment others may fail to yield any relief. Even while treating with homeopathy the child needs to be rated on an autism rating scale. Periodical assessments on the autism rating scale are must to gauge the improvements in the child. Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine; it takes into consideration the constitutional picture (complete physical and mental make up of the child) along with the necessary details of the disease while prescribing.
Medicines that are very effective in treating autism are Carcinocin, Thuja, and Secretin. The role of carcinocin in treating autism requires a special mention. This also does not mean that every child who has autism should be put on it; even for carcinocin to be prescribed the child has to fall within the drug?s constitutional picture

1) No, Carcinosin is not the only remedy .
2) Indications for the use of carcinosin are -

3) Its very difficult to answer such questions but I can broadly tell you that there are three indices which have helped me in ascertaining whether homeopathy will be able to help the autistic child or not/ or to which degree would it be able to help- a) AGE OF THE CHILD has a strong bearing on the outcome ; the younger the child the better the prognosis. b) HYPERACTIVITY of the child also has a strong bearing . c) Speech – although i havee seen kid scoming up from just no speech to good deal of speech with homeopathy , but if a kid has little bit of speech then the chances of him showing results with homeopathy are high.
4) No long Term Side effects with homeopathy ; at times mild transient increase in hyperactivity or temporary decrease of appetite after giving carcinosin ( that too is very rare and is transient- subsides usually withinn a fortnight . This at times is followed by overall great improvemnt in child.We call it the “homeopathic aggravation”.
5) Homeopathy works in Autism by stimulating neuro development . Possibly by increasing the neuronal pathways.
6) no , i wouldn’t use Carcinocin for PDD NOS

The initial signs of improvements usually are the understanding seems to get better , understanding of concepts , execution of commands …please dont expect speech to get better in the first month as speech is not a stand alone feature of the brain . It results out of cumulative development of various faculties of brain .

I just read couple of your articles. The problem is not regarding Autism it’s regarding skin problem in feet. My mother got skin problem 4 yrs back in her feet. She visited us 4 years back and when she came back to India skin problem started in her feet. She gets itchyness and gets cracks in her feet. Some times it doesn’t show up. She has seen so many doctors in India. It’s been her 4 years seeing doctors. But no improvement. Now a days she is with me in United States. So she is seeing a skin specialist here next month. If it doesn’t work what should she do. Also if you can give the details and your address so that she can come in your clinic and see you and discuss her problem that will be great.

I am the sufferer of ocd thoughts. I have developed guiltiness because the OCD thoughts are towards my son aged 12 years. This started from when he is 9 months old and I could not realize at that time it was OCD. I used to worry a lot. I have come across many articles suggesting that homeopathy can cure autism, i want to know does it REALLY cure or does it kind of simmer downs the symptoms . My son aged 9 , is autistic , hyperactive and somewhat verbal, he has been on rehab for quite some time , has shown improvement , but nothing close to what his peers are at his age ( not that i expect any such comparison) . Even though he is on no medication , sometimes he goes overboard with his temper tantrums and literally starts pulling curtains in the house and breaks things , in nutshell he is at his destructive best. my name is sonia and i m in std tenth i have a brother who is 4 years younger than me his name is manav.
right from the childhood he was hyperactive
he used to say accordingly watching through the lipsink
when he was 2 he used to say 1 to 10 after me but after that suddenly he stopped speaking and reacting on things.

I am so glad to know that he doesnt have to be treated by the strong and sometimes harmful pharmeceuticals used in this country far too often. Hello, my name is jeanette and I am a mother of a 2year old girl who has just been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She was saying a few words and looking at me when called up until 1yr to 1 1/2 yrs old. My kid is now 2months and 10 months old ,,however is is well grown up but have some trouble in speaking ..he can only make few words but no complete sentences ..we also have visited the childs PShycologist who say that the child needs to Socialise ,and start going to School (he now only started going to school )…Maybe early intervention is required for the same …

My son is autistic and he is now 8yrs old. We are sending him to a special school and he is yet to develop speech. He just says one or two words which we have trained him through occupational therapy and other behavioural exercises. He has improved some extent to take care of his things but whereas the anti social behaviour and getting hyper some times, etc., continues. I was advised by people that there is no medical cure for this but on reading your article it gives me confidence that homeopathy can do some thing good if not every thing. We first noticed some shortcoming when he wouldn’t respond to name calling.
He was potty trained but regressed and had to be trained again.
He wouldn’t sit in the classroom and teacher complained that he would not queue up and on occassions get angry too.
As time went by we noticed some improvement thru intervention in his communication. But on the other hand he showed newer traits that looked odd…like currently he laughs a lot by himself.

My son is 10 years old and is having mild to moderate autism. Actually at the time of birth ( during early childhood ) he had no signs of any disease and everything looked fine though he had delayed milestones particularly the speech . In fact he started walking at the age of 11 months & all other activities such as crawling , standing etc was normal . My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum in the beginning of this year. I used to regularly treat him with homeopathy for cold and chest congestions which he had quite often…and homeopathy effectively helped out in these areas. With consultation with my regular Homeopathy doctor i have started treating him for autism spectrum disorder. But of late he cries without reason. He’s more alert than before but there are certain occassions when you wonder how does one decide whether the treatment is working for him. The results are not always as tangible as it would be for cold, constipation etc.

He is under treatment of an Australian Homeopath since one year. She has given carcinocin also . The other medicines given to him were sulphur, merc, stayph, Nat-m, phosphorous. Only good thing about her treatment is that she tells the medicines and we can buy from market also. Its a great pleasure to read your article above. My son is 3 years old who goes to Nursery. He suffers from delayed language development. Per our concerns expressed on his speech / lang.development, We had been asked by his child specialist to take him to a speech therapist, the sessions with the therapist have just recently started over a month. Based on the the evaluation done by Speech therpaist, it seems my son may be have High Functioning Autism. He is a happy child who has no issues in understanding facial expressions or imitating, but his language development is lagging as compared to any other 3 year old kid. His non verbal communication in gettng his need fulfilled is very good and even people outside the family have no issues in understanding them. He uses very few words sometimes to get his need fulfilled and says a rhyme. thats all on speech. He mixes / plays with only some kids and has a craving for anything choclate flavoured and tetra pack juices. He has started following simple commands and obeys instructions in the past 1 month after we started insisting that he MUST obey. He does not have much of negative or destructive behaviour. he throws a tantrum for few seconds when we refuse him anything he wants badly. He is constpated sometimes and is difficult in potty training him. He can carry his day – day tasks (again need basis)decently. There is no family history of cancer or any serious ailment in near relatives. But yes, there have been 2 or 3 cases of delayed language development. He was born to me after 4 years of marriage. My Son aged now 10+ was diagnosed with severe (90%Mental retardation) Autism spectrum disorder in Feb 2006 by Dr. Vohara at NIMH Delhi. He was diagnosed by one of the psychiatrist at NIMH having, Odd and repetitive behavior, hyperactive. He was lacking verbal and non verbal communication, behaving as if deaf, remaining socially isolated, Not bothered what his siblings consume or play with. If somebody ever snatched any toy or food from him, he used to ignore as if nothing happened. He was not giving eye contacts. MIR, BEERA, Speech Analysis done not reflected negative sign which were done on the advice of leading Neuro Surgeon. Who later referred to child developmental consultant for treatment. T3, T4 and THS results also negative. He did not responded to speech therapy.

Two week back he starting crying after returning to bed. And it continued for several days. We consulted psychiatrists at a renowned psychiatrist hospital who advised Tablet Axcepta 10gm and Tablet Risca 1gm . Next day he developed certain side effects.(viz. His whole body shivered, Heart beating intensified very severely, His mouth remained open, and he stopped consuming food. We referred back him to the same hospital and on their advice Tab. Risca was stopped. He was administrated Phenergan Injection (Promethazine ). And advised to give him Syrup Valprin 1 tsf BT and tablet Lonazap 0.25 BT But next day he had loose motion. And we stopped the drug.
Now please advice
1. Whether his treatment is possible through homeopathic medicine,
2. Does homeopathic medicine is fraught with side effects
3. Will he became Normal and if yes, how long will it take
4. Even if Complete Normality is not possible. Will be become at-least independent to do day to day chores, viz eat himself, change clothes himself, answer the call of nature. Etc.
5. Will his restlessness get minimized and will be sleep well

My son would be turning 4 soon. He is not yet diagnosed as autistic but we have been told that the symtoms he exhibits indicates he may have mild or High functioning autism. We started his speech and Occupational therapy early this year and he is making good progress. He is able to communicate what he wants to eat and tries to convey what he is into when asked apart from rote learning answers, his understanding of both English an HIndi too is very good now. But he still have behavioural issues like irritability, aggression, stubborness. I will give you an example, suppose he wants something desparately, and he is unable to get it on time, he will scream and acted irritated. He behaves like any normal kid when I am around, but the moment he is on his own, he gets lost and does not know how to handle himself. This happens in school. The teacher has told me that when he is with me, no one can say there is any issue, but once you leave, he seems to be confused. I read about homeopathy as a cure for Autism behaviour issues and I approached a local homeopathic doctor (MD (homeo)) few days back. She has prescribed me medicines for cold / cough and behavioural problems as stated above after taking down the history of my son. But she refuses to tell me the medicines she has provided. But I am very curious to understand whats going in the treatment. What do I do about it? Please advice.

I have a friend whose child was diagnosed with autism few years ago, thay believed this was caused by the vaccines. He is now 5 years old and doesn´t speak much at all.
They live in Mexico and have been takin all kind of threpies like equinotherapy, mother cells, organic diet, gluten and sugar free. He has had some improvement but the therapies are very expensive and they are struggling to keep up with them. My daughter will be 7 years on 16 JULY 2011. She has following symptoms.
She is very hyperactive, she has been like this since last 03 years, she jumps on the bed, jumps on the playground and given a choice everywhere. She loves listening to music and starts jumping.
she does not interact with kids of her age and rather prefer kids younger to her, even though having a good memory remembers everyone. She does like to play and interact with older.

I read for the first time abt u on the website. I am the grandmother of my daughter’s autistic son who is now 14 yrs. old. He was discovered with autism at the age of 2. My daugher has 3 more children after him. In the beginning he was under Dr. Vibhakrishnamurthy in Mumbai. But then because of my son-in-law’s job they hv shifted places, Australia, Mumbai, Singapore and now Brunei. I think my son (6.5 yrs old) has some of the symtoms as delayed speech,poor concentration,weak memory(for studies only) and lack of social contacts specially with an unknown person. Otherwise he talks to us,able to express his feelings verbly and non-verbally aswell,understands logic and concepts if teach him properly and calm most of the time. We have taken him to Doctor for IQ test also at 4.5 yrs of age and he got 105 with average intelligence but not diganosed with any other problem. i am very fortunate to have come accross these messages. I have a son who is now 18 years. He is schooling in a special school. He was detected deaf by birth. He has nervous deafness. he has moderate autism and when we tested him in NIMHANS when he was 6 years, we were told that he is perfectly trainable. We tried almost everything we could but no success. Currently since he in going through harmonal changes, he gets hyperactive at some point of time and becomes aggressive. Early symptoms when she was 2-1/2 years old showed like following:
Poor eye contact.. appeared as if she was looking through you.

My 5 yr-old boy suffering with refractory seizures since 8 monhts of his age. In the year June, 2010 he was underwent cranotomy (epilepsy surgery). Due to which there is 50% decrrease in epilepsy. Very little improvement is there from this but not upto the expectation. My brother’s son is 04 years old and I thought he is suffering from Austin Spectrum Syndrome and under homiopathic medicine now in Jamshedpur Local Homeopathic Doctor but no any improvement of his activities.Actually at the time of birth ( during early childhood ) he had no signs of any disease and everything looked fine though he had delayed milestones particularly the speech.
