Acidity ; Curable with Homeopathy
Acidity refers to a burning pain in the upper abdominal and chest area. This condition is medically called as Heartburn. It is not uncommon for people to have heartburn episodes but if these attacks occur very frequently they indicate a disorder called as GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease). This is also called as acid reflux disease. Although many people are able to manage heartburn with lifestyle changes but for those who do not respond and frequently suffer from it, homeopathic medicines can be of great help in curing this disease.
To understand GERD, one will have to first understand how our esophagus (food pipe) and stomach handle food and acid. As the food reaches the lower end of the food pipe, a circular muscle present around the food pipe opens up and allows the food to enter the stomach. Once it enters the stomach, this muscle closes the lower end of the food pipe. This actually behaves like a valve stopping the food and the acid in the stomach from moving back into the esophagus. In Gerd, this valve relaxes abnormally or weakens, so the stomach acid flows back up into your esophagus very frequently, causing repeated attacks of heartburn. Gerd if left untreated can lead to a more serious complication called as ?Erosive esophagitis?; which in turn can lead to ulceration, bleeding and narrowing of the food pipe.
Symptoms of Gerd are frequent attacks of heartburn. The main symptom of heartburn is burning pain in the lower part of mid chest usually after eating or lying down (as the acid back flow is more while lying or bending over).At times patients may even have vomiting and bitter risings of acids in their mouth. Obesity pregnancy and smoking are factors known which contribute to GERD. Foods that are known to increase the symptoms of heartburn are citrus fruits, chocolate, drinks with caffeine or alcohol, fatty and fried foods, garlic and onions, mint flavorings, spicy foods, tomato-based foods and various masalas.
Homeopathy can be of great help for those who do not show much improvement even after lifestyle modifications. Homeopathic medicines – Iris, Arsenic album and Robinia are the leading drugs in treating symptoms of reflux. Nux Vomica is very effective for those who frequently eat foods that are known to trigger heartburn. It is also used when alcohol is a trigger factor. Natrum Phos is another important medicine which is often used when symptoms of heartburn are accompanied by sour belching and even sour vomiting. These medicines are apt in treating acute episodes of the heartburn; but for treating Gerd permanently, constitutional treatment is required. This kind of treatment is a holistic approach and the prescription is based at the detailed physical and mental analysis of the patient.
Lifestyle changes that can help in reducing the symptoms of reflux are losing weight( if one is overweight), avoiding trigger foods, stop smoking, eating small frequent meals, and avoiding lying down for at least three hours after the meal. Elevating the head of the bed either by adding a wooden block underneath the bed post can be of help

Its give me temporary relief not permanentaly. I was working in Saudi Arabia. Presently my job is office related. When i was in Pakistan after work i play squash regelarly. Duing playing i have same problem. But i was smart my vaste was 36. now its 41 and i am very medium fatty. I need your help what i do.

He has been prescribed ” NEXIUM” tablet to be taken in the morning. He is on this tab from the last 45 days and feeling better. But the Doctors here (USA) cannot tell us how long he will be on this medication. They say that they will again do the endoscopy after 6 months.

I have diagnosed with GERD and Baretts Esophagus last February and I’ve been taking medications for the last 2 months with high dose of PPI but I cant found any relief and symptoms just get worse. I frequently feel bloated and belching, having chest pain and I dont know if numbness of some parts of the body is also associated with this disease. I am also having frequent palpitations and I dont know if this is also normal in my case. i am having gerd problem for last 3 years. I had show a specialist abotut 1.5 yars abck but he advised more of lifestyle changes. I wanted to get over this problem which ahs remained at the same level since. and the doctor advised me to go for endoscopy. I was bit surpised that on the first visit based on the info provided was it a sound advise to go for endoscopy. I would like your view as wella s know if the procedure is anwyay a risky procedure.

Since last 4 months my job profile has changed, I sit at work more, earlier i used to work in process plant, so i used to move around the plant.

BUT AFTER I WENT FOR DENTAL TREAT MENT WHERE I HAD TO USE ANTIBIOTICS AND PAIN KILLERS FO A I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE LASTV TWO WEEKS WITH CONTINUOUS DISCOMFORT OF CHEST PAIN WEEK ( SOME TIME SEVERE)AND BURNING ALONG WITH ABD PAIN/BURNING . THE UPPER ABDOMINAL PART NEAR STERNUM( MORE ON LEFT) AND CHEST ( PREDOMINANTLY ESOPAHAGUS AREA OF CHEST ) IS FELT VERY TIGHT CAUSING MAX DISCOMFORT.

I have GERD problem since last one and half years. It started with heavy caugh which used to leave me without breath in the nights. Then Doctor gave me Rabeprazole and domeperidome. I have been taking it since last one and half years and have been keeping the same lifestyle with spicy food , occasional alcohal (twice a month) etc . It was fine but when I stopped the medicine, this again reoccured. Now I want to permanently cure this problem. Pls guide me.
However I have started treatment from Homeopathic doctor Kalyan Banerjee from CR park new delhi but it is been 4-5 days but I there is no releaf. I will continue this medicine till it becomes unbearable, then I am thinking to switch back to Rabeprazole and domeperidome.

I am 44 years old and i am suffering from cidity since 4-5 years.I had done endoscopy 4 years ago but they confirmed that light ulcerations on the esophagus and diognised as GERD 1.
My phycian advised not to worry too much and to control the same by food and used to control.But since 6 months I am getting wheezing after my lunch and will get minimised if I take a dose of Nux.I some times get my ears blocked and checked witht he ENT and advised it may be due to allergies caused by the weather.
I am a regular user of homeo medicines and my dr had given a first three months course and after using this I started reducing weight almost 1 kg per week and now reduced from 84 to 76 KGs in 3 months. I had been checked for all relevant tests by a physician for diabetic profile ( 4.1 ), ESR (3 mm) and Thyroid , Lever tests and all are in well in control except teh urine tests confirms pH is 5 .I am not feeling week but continue in loosing weight so I am worried .
Please advise if I am in any wrog direction.

I am having heartburn from last 8-9 months. I took some medicines [Razo D] and went through endoscopy, it was kind of GERD 1 level. I felt OK for 2 months but it again came back, now from last 3 months, I am kind of feeling sever heartburn even I am taking these medicines regularly.. Please let me know if i need to do something
