What Are Adenoids

Although tonsils can be easily viewed in an open mouth, adenoids are not directly viewable. Enlarged adenoids can only be detected by an x-ray or by the symptoms shown by the child. Symptoms of enlarged adenoids are easily recognizable .The most common symptom is that of difficulty in breathing through the nose .This is most predominant at night when the child is sleeping. Disturbed nasal breathing in kids with enlarged adenoids shows up in two ways-Snoring and breathing through the mouth . If during the day time the child is showing the signs of mouth breathing ,the enlargement of adenoids is usually severe. The most worry some symptom is that of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea refers to a condition where the child has breathing pauses during sleep .This sleep disturbance manifests itself in the day time by paroxysmal drowsiness and difficulty in concentration in the kids .Other symptoms of enlarged adenoids may include bad breath and dry mouth. Increase in the size of adenoids leads to pressure changes on the Eustachian tube causing hearing difficulties and recurrent middle ear infections. Another complication that usually arises out of enlarged adenoids is recurrent infections in the sinuses – often called as sinusitis.

My 3.5 years old boy kid has been dignosed enlarged adenoids which is blocking his air passages through nose. He has difficulty in breathing through nose and takes breath through his mouth which is very uncomfortable. Antiallegry tablets and nasal drops prescribed by his doctor proved ineffective and now ENT specialist has prescribed Metaspray nasal spray twice daily but even after its use for almost 20 days, relief is not very much ,only 20-25%. I have also tried homeopathic medicines and doctor prescribed him ammonium carb30 4 times daily and bryta carb 1000 2 dosages weekly. He also has problem of inflammed tonsils for which doctor has prescribed him tonsiotron one tablets twice daily and echinesia and baptisia mother tincture 5 drops each in water twice daily. but even after all these medicines his problem is not going. Now ENT doctor is saying that , after all these medications,surgery is the last option. Please advice me and plese tell can i expect any relief from homeopathic medicines because his homeopathic doctor has tried vearious types of medicines but not relief till now.

My chid is 4.5 year and my child can’t breath well at night during sleep and she also mouth- breathes.I took her for Xray and the report says she has enlarged adenoids.Her doctor recommended surgery but I don’t want her to undergo surgery.Please could you recommend natural remedies or cures and medication for the treatment?
My 7 yrs old child has enlarged adenoid. During sleeping the child is snoring and breathing from mouth. I have given him sulphur 200 twice daily for 7 days. 70% improvement noticed. Now please advise me accordingly what is to be given now. Whether Agraphis Nutons/Calc carb can be given.

I have been seeing a naturopath. My son who is four years old has very large tonsils and difficulty breathing from the nose at night as well. The naturopath has prescribed tuberculim. He has had a bad reaction twice to this remedy.
When given a high dose he had extreme fever and was very sick for nine days. A lower dose recently caused him wake in the middle of the night he was shakeing and very cold . Even though the room was warm and there was no fever.
In the past eliminating dairy and processed foods, including probiotics, and omegas has helped.
He is just getting over a throat infection and tonsils are very large and he is having difficultly breathing at night. I had purchased agraphis nutans a couple of years ago but have not yet used them. Do you advise that I give it a try? If yes What amount? I have pellets 30CH.

I have a 3 year old girl who is prone to frequent respiratory infections due to enlarged adenoids. Her typical symptoms are blocked nose, mouth breathing, she gets runny nose very often and her mucus is yellow/green color. Shet gets better in the summer and suffer more in teh winter.
She is tall a nd slender, very fair complexion – white skin and blue eyes. She is lively, quick and curious by nature.
I have tried homeopathic treatment for in the past with the help of our family doctor but often her condiiton to progress to a stage where we’ve been subscribed stronger medicines and even anti-biotics to stop and year infection or a chest cough.
I would like to start a long term preventative treatment for her enlarged adenoids. Please advise the best remedy.

My 04 yrs old son suffering from enlarged adenoids as confirmed from his X-Ray.Doctors suggest for Surgical Removal,But we don’t want to put our child under surgeons knife.During one of our visits to Doctors Clinic one of our family friend suggest Homeopathic Treatment.So,we head for a renowned Homeopathy Clinic and they prescribed Calc-Sulp. He is having this medicine for past four months but we have not noticed any improvement and his doctors told it will take more than 02 yrs to see the improvement.
So,kindly suggest is this the right medicine for adenoiod or if there is any alternative medicines which takes not much time i.e 02 yrs.

Good evening! I have been dealing with my daughters re-occurring ear infections since May. She began with ear infections in may. Prior to that she showed signs of allergies (redness around the mouth, eczema, runny nose all the time.) Not realizing that, I continued to take her between May and August in and out of ear infections and she continue with a significant amount of fluid in her ear and antibiotics. In addition to the infections, she also developed sleep apnea. In September, I took her to an ENT. He prescribed an antibiotic treatment of low dose for 1 month. Simultaneously, I was taking her to an allergist. He ran a scratch test and nothing turned up positive. Between the removal of milk (my intuition), the antibiotic, and the floinaise her sleep apnea ceased. Two weeks after the antibiotics, her snoring started up again. Since then, she still has not re-developed the sleep apnea, has continued with the snoring, and has developed strep throat and another ear infection. She also has a speech delay and loss of hearing due to all this. For me I feel that and ENT op is a choice, but not the option I want. We are also extremely tight on money and this is guiding our decision to research a more natural and cost effective option. (FYI: both of my girls were nursed for some time and had dairy sensitivities or colic due to my milk intolerance’s) Please let me know if there is any way that you can help or if you know of a holistic or homeopath in my area I may be able to see.

3 yr old boy .have done the CT imaging ,It revealed the following
1.Hypertrophied Adenoids
2.B/L ethmoidomaxillary Sinusitis.
From last one year we are following homeopathic treatment locally but problem is not solved.The boy sleeps with mouth open,often have running nose,water drops from mouth and chest congestion.

My son aged 6 years and 5 months is suffering from frequent bouts of sore throat and high fever, which gets treated with 3 or 5 days course of antibiotic but reoccurs after a gap of 15 to 20 days. An ENT specialist has recommended X-ray for detecting adenoid and is sure that he is suffering from enlarged adenoid and would require surgery for treating the same.
Sir, please advice me if the condition can be treated without surgery.
