What Causes Anal Itching?

1. Pinworms – These are tiny worms, also known as threadworms, and are the most common among the different types of worm infections. Infection caused by pinworms is known as enterobiasis. Pinworm infection is very common in children of school going age. The most common symptom of this infection is anal itching. It gets worse at night that causes restless or disturbed sleep. Besides itching, it can cause pain in the abdomen, loss of appetite, nausea, irritability and bedwetting.

2. Piles – Piles refers to swelling of veins around the anus or in the lower rectum. It can cause anal itching along with its other symptoms like rectal pain, burning, swelling, lump at anus and bleeding.
