Eczemas and Homeopathic Treatment
Eczema refers to an inflammatory condition of the skin often called as dermatitis by physicians. The word Eczema is a broad term and usually incorporates many types of inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis. Homeopathy offers a great solution to treating and curing this disorder. Homeopathic medicines, while treating skin disorders are non suppressive in nature and do not have any side effects. The great advantage that homeopathy offers over conventional skin treatments is that its medicines give a long term solution by curing it permanently.
The most common form of eczema is atopic dermatitis. This form of eczema has a strong allergic and genetic component associated to it. Atopic Dermatitis usually starts in infancy. This starts typically by 3 months. It may start with dry inflamed look of the skin mostly on the face, neck; scalp slowly spreading to legs and arms. The bends of joints also get affected by it. Symptoms include mild to severe scratching of the areas affected. In severe cases cuts and cracks may develop on skin with oozing of fluid. If untreated, Atopic dermatitis can continue for years together. There is a very strong allergy feature associated with atopic dermatitis. All those who develop Atopic dermatitis have a strong family history of allergic conditions (like asthma, allergic rhinitis etc.) in the family. Although Most of the kids, by the age of five, show improvement; some flare-ups of atopic dermatitis may be noted even at later ages including late teens and early adulthood. Girls and kids, who have an early onset and patients with strong family history of allergies, usually have a prolonged atopic dermatitis. Nearly all patients by the age of thirty come out of it. Atopic dermatitis can get flared up by many precipitating factors. The most common are the food allergen like nuts, milk etc. other factors are dust mites, animal dander, environmental pollution and thermal and atmospheric conditions.
Contact dermatitis is a kind of eczema where rashes or inflammation on skin appears after a contact with the allergen. The most common example is that of an eczema on fingers and hands that results out of contact with washing detergents. Allergy to cosmetics is another example of contact dermatitis. The symptoms of contact dermatitis include itching in the exposed areas, redness /inflammation, lesions, rashes, cuts, cracks and even oozing. The most common allergens are detergents, jewelry, adhesives perfumes, deodourants, adhesives, cosmetics, paints etc.
It is now an accepted fact that homeopathic treatment for most of the skin disorders and skin allergies is very effective. Even for chronic skin disorders that have been there in the body for many years, can be treated with homeopathy. The big reason for the effectiveness of homeopathy in treating skin allergies can be attributed to the fact that homeopathy does not treat such problems as merely a skin disorder, but as a disturbed internal state of the immune system. The medication is aimed at optimizing the overactive immune system. Homeopathic medicine Calcarea Carb is very effective in treating atopic dermatitis in infants. Contact dermatitis responds well to Homeopathic medicines Petroleum and Graphite.
My daughter, age 15, is having symptoms of hand/palm eczema that include one or more of the following:
a) Redness (erythema)
b) Itching
c) Pain
d) Dryness, to the point of peeling and flaking;
The problem has been for 2-3 years. We consulted Dermatologists/Skin Care physicians and took medicines [both oral and ointments, e.g. cutevate 2% fluticasone propionate). But the problem revives.
A month back we again consulted a doctor who prescribed ‘tacrolim 1% cream’ and ‘Dry Care Roll on’. These too seemed to have aggravated the itching and redness. So, we would like to take homeopathic treatment now. Would you pls suggest what medicine/solutions should we follow?

I have the skin problem from last 8 years also have asthama. Its been told as eczema.
High itching specially in nights. Dry skin. Tried almost everything including dr.batras for more than a year. Nothing worked for me. Just not able control itching. In some time in between I could see little relaxed days.don’t know the reason may be 15 days or so in a 4, 5 month cycle.

Hello Doctor. I am taking homeo treatment for my son for atopic dermatis and it is going to be 2 years by December. He will turn 4 by January.When i started the treatment it had just started behind one knee joint and on one elbow. after one month of treatment i stopped the medication he had a viral fever and had to take three shots of antibiotics in aperiod of 2 months so i had to stop the homeo medicineand after that he flared up alll throughut his body and face. After that i continued my treatment with my homeopath. It got controlled . But with each change of medicine he keeps flaring and his face and behind his ears are also scratichg and red and scaly. Is this treatment going in the right direction.Does it take so long to reach aconclusion

2. causes itching
3. on rubbing it ozzes out water n blood
4. at starting stage skin has redness dots n patches
5. mostly at legs

My daughter has a 4-month-old baby boy with eczema particularly on the sides of his face. I have studied homeopathy for quite some time and saw some symptoms that looked a bit like Sulphur but that brought the eczema out more on the skin.
After Sulphur, we tried graphites but there has been no change and so I am thinking that perhaps petroleum is a good choice.
Here are the symptoms:
vesicles on the sides of the face that weep, the skin can also look dry and cracked, there is great redness and the liquid that comes out is clear
he can sound a bit hoarse but not with coughing, only a hoarse voice
he wakes often and tries to scratch his skin – his parents put mitts on his hands to keep him from scratching
he had a difficult birth and had very elevated levels of billirubin – they kept him in the hospital for two days under the lights and then sent his parents home with a billirubin table that they used for almost a week. After 6 days, I suggested using Lycopodium which they did and the next day his count was down to normal (this makes me think of Lycopodium as a potential remedy in the running)
the eczema changes from side to side, intense to less intense, weepy to dry and scaly and often the change happens within the context of a day
I think this is contact dermatitis
Do you have any suggestions? I am now thinking that petroleum might be the best fit.

I am suffering from skin problems for last 2/3 years. Symptoms are similar to eczema. On both palms skin gone hard followed by blisters like patches – pains and itchy. I have used vaious ointments like corticosteroids for temporary relief and taking Ayurvedic treatment for long time. It reoccurs again and again. I am looking for Homeopathic solutions. and ointment or cream for the same.
