Diverticula are small bulging pouches or pockets that can form in the lining of the large intestine or colon. Diverticula develop when weak spots in the intestinal walls bulge out. Diverticula don’t cause any symptoms, but if the pouches of diverticula get infected or inflamed, the condition is known as diverticulitis. Use of China is considered in cases of diverticulitis where there is abdominal pain, bloating and excessive flatus. The abdomen feels tight with rumbling and moving of flatus. Bending over double gives relief in pain. Along with this profuse, watery, offensive stool may appear frequently. A marked debility arises due to frequent loose stool.
Symptoms of Diverticulitis
The symptoms of diverticulitis include abdominal pain usually on the lower left side, abdominal tenderness, nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel habits (mostly constipation and less commonly diarrhea), blood in the stool and fever. Some complications may appear in cases of diverticulitis. I have been dealing with what they keep referring to as “mild diverticulitis “ however since mid year 2020 I have done several rounds of Antibiotics and have been presented with elective “Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Sigmoid Colectomy” as an option.. and told it’s an eventuality. This is all very strange to me as within hours of taking the antibiotic I feel worlds better and seem to do fine after the course until diet comes into play. None of these dr’s can tell me the same thing when it comes to what I can eat and what diet to follow.. liquid, low fiber high fiber, probiotics, Mira lax .. in fact they all contradict each other and all that I read online does too..
I feel as though “diet” is the root cause and the most likely solution with or without surgery seems the most important.
I have been scheduled twice for this surgery and twice rescheduled due to assisting surgeon availability. Is the a better approach to my diet that will promote healing and flare ups? These guys don’t even know.. literally. They can’t say yes or no.

I have a terrible amount of gas and constant burping for the last 6 years and eat only cooked food mainly vegetarian. My mom is 81 years old. Since Dec 2018 she has been having blood in stools ( clots and maroon coloured stools) on and off. Though the blood clots are passed only with stools once or twice, the blood loss is very high. Her HB drops from 9 to 6 within one or two bowel movements. She responds to IV antibiotics and blood transfusion and the bleeding stops in 4 or 5 days. She passed normal stools ( occasional difficulty in getting a bowel movement) for about 4 to 7 weeks and gets the same blood clots again . All tests have not shown any source of bleeding ( endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, CT scan, CT angiography etc) she has no blood clotting disorders. No cancer or hpylori infection. Her latest diagnosis is grade 2 hemmorroids and acute erosive gastritis. She was perfectly healthy until Dec 2018. She is not diabetic, not hypertensive and not obese. She follows regular rice based veg diet and minimal spices since childhood. She doesn’t eat outside food. Please guide.

My wife has onset symptoms of pain in left side; takes one each metronidazole 500 mg & ciprofloxin 500mg every 12 hours. For 10 days. This reoccurs every 30-40 days. She had a colonoscopy in April; Physician didn’t indicate a severe tissue disorder. We’re in a wait and see as she had three flare ups before the colonoscopy and two after the procedure.
