The liver is the largest gland in the body situated below the diaphragm, on the right side of the abdomen and has many vital functions to perform for the body. It filters the blood coming from the digestive tract before it passes to the body. Other important functions of the liver are metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and amino acids in the body; production of bile that help in breaking down the fat and detoxification of chemicals and drugs. Its other functions include producing blood clotting factors, storage of glucose and clearance of bilirubin. Many factors can cause liver problems, but the major among them are virus infections, alcohol consumption, and obesity. Liver problems can occur in persons of all age groups and may be genetic. Liver problems, if not treated in time, can lead to liver failure and prove to be life-threatening. Homeopathic medicines for liver problems are Chelidonium, Carduus Marianus and Natrum Sulphuricum.

A gall stone is really a calculus formed within the gall bladder. Gall stones are formed due to concretion of the bile components. A person may experience intense pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. My son is 27 years old and diagnosed with CML last year. He started Imatinib chemotherapy since 5 months ago. Everything was going perfect and his CBC changed to normal . But unfortunately Maybe due to Imatinib his liver enzymes started to go up. We discontinued the medication, the liver enzymes got better and we started again the Imatinib but again the liver enzymes went up and didn’t back to normal though we discontinued the medication.
Now the problem is that his liver enzymes are going up daily and ALT is 1160 today and bilirubin is 17( upper limit of normal).
What remedy can I prescribe for him?

I have had very healthy, clean , liver friendly diet for many years, a good lifestyle yet my lifer continues to shoot fire into my eyes, causing frequent iritis., headache, and clouded vision, and also skin issues. So normal substances ( food, essential oils, creams) will agitate it. I’ve been dealing with severe hormonal imbalance and yet the herbs that would help me are causing liver problems too, including homeopathic ( eg any cell salts ending sulph will agitate the upward liver fire). Each time my hormones start rising ( and they need to) I’m having above issues. And yet, low hormones cause myriad of other problems. I believe my liver is not toxic it’s just weak and very sensitive. I’ve been using Glonoin, Belladona ans Bryonia to treat acute symptoms with my eye/ or red burning eczema in my face.

I have primary biliary cholangiatis. I have used homeopathic products for all kinds of issues over the years but I am very careful what I use with this chronic liver problem. I am in remission now because of milk thistle, vitamin e and several other supplements, and also take a purified form of bile acid called ursodiol. I also watch my diet. I take influnzinum 9 instead of flu shots. I use Natural Care for stress. But, in reading this article medicines for liver problems, I cannot figure out what would be best for the condition that I have to continue the good health of my liver. My gall bladder has some trash in it according to x-ray but I don’t have gall bladder attacks and my digestive doctor said no problem.
