It can also result from conditions that affect the blood vessels supplying blood to the foot. While other reasons include herniated disc (pushing of the soft center of the intervertebral disc out through its tough exterior part), sciatica (pain traveling along the path of the sciatic nerve from the lower back down the leg), and multiple sclerosis (autoimmune disorder causing damage of cover of nerve cells). Other causes may be a spinal cord injury/foot injury, peripheral arterial disease (a condition resulting from reduced blood flow to legs due to narrowing or blockage of arteries) and alcoholism. It may also be caused due to Guillain-barre syndrome (an autoimmune disorder resulting in weakness, tingling, numbness mostly starting in feet and legs and eventually spreading upwards), vasculitis (inflamed blood vessels), tarsal tunnel syndrome (condition arising from compression of tibial nerve in foot) and frostbite (skin damage from extreme cold).

How to take medicine for numbness in feet due to diabetes?

  10. Hi

I am hoping you can help me. For the past two years I have had numbness and all round uneasiness in my left foot. I can only explain it by saying I feel left leg is always jittery and numb. I feel it is also important to mention I suffer from back pain and cannot help thinking that my leg pain is due to nerve damage.

I have been putting up with this ongoing condition, but I am now at a stage where I cannot stand it and want it to get this better. I have for a long time taken homeopathic remedies and firmly believe that this is more effective then conventional medicine.

Please can you guide me in which is the best homeopathic remedy for this condition. Is there anything more I can do, like simple exercise. I am a very healthy eater, but if there is any food that is beneficial.

    Dear Dr. Sharma
I have done MRI Scan and I am having herniated disc in the L4-L5 region. I have also done nerve sensitivity tests and the result is Radiculopathy in the left leg causing Pins and Needles feeling in the left foot sole when I walk. I have to sit down wherever I am for 5minutes and it becomes ok. Again after another 5minutes of walking it starts all over again.
Also another problem is there. When there is severe prickling in the sole, I am unable to urinate however much I try. The urine seems blocked.
I am aged 68, male person. Kindly look into the problem.

  16. I had foot drop In my right leg because of nerve injury below the knee in 1990. I had recovered and could do brisk walking and running. Suddenly since last two days I am feeling numbness and less strength in that leg. Please advise.

  17. Hello Dr Sharma, I experience pins and needles that turns into numbness in my fingers – usually in my left hand – the thumb, pointer, and middle finger. Sometimes it’s in both hands. Sometimes it’s the baby finger and the ring finger, but that is only in the left hand. I also experience pins and needles and eventual numbnesss mostly in my left foot, but sometimes in the right, or both. I am a healthy, active daily yoga practitioner, age 68. I have no diabetes or other illnesses. I take no other medication but thyroid medication. I am a vegetarian. I have just recently increased my Vit B1, B6, B12, Vit E, and Magnesium. Yesterday I took one pellet of Nature Muriaticum every two hours, with no difference. Can you please suggest another homeopathic? Or should I just go through the suggested list, taking 1 peeler every 2-4 hours, stopping and changing to the next option if no results within a day. Is that the best way to work my way through various homeopathic? Thank you for your help. Be safe and take care out there.
