Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.

I have heard about homeo treatment for hyperactivity.My son is a preschooler.He is 4yrs old and he is extremely hyperactive and inattentive.He wont sit at one place he wants to go outside always.He too had problem in school. His teachers are unable to manage him.He is disturbing whole class.They said that they cant manage him.So he is not going to school know.we ar worried about our son.plzz help us out what to do.He is very impulsive too

Dear Dr, my self sonyshetty I am from mangalore . My son he s 10 yrs old studying in class 4 . Has lots of problems . I cant make it out whether its hyper or autism . He s an intelligent child . Learns and picks things quickly
His hearing or listening s excellent . But from class 2 he stopped writing or coping from the black board
From small he s comparatively diff from other child . But not soo bad. He like quite atmosphere . Very friendly child , loves reafing lots of books , fond of evil stuffs like wild teath horns on the head , blood . Drackulas vampires he feels they r very unusual .
In the school or in a crowded place he wants to b left him alone . He wants to b left himself . If any thing s asked to do. He troubles . He keeps running aroud the classroom ans school campus. Like a tiger or lion he acts . Which makes other children scared . He playes with his spit . Or makes drawing like monsters . Eats food at unusal time . Does wiredthings .
Teachers r not ready to give importance to him . They say they cannot manage . So school has request to bring him for first 3 periods. I am completely helpless I tried many schools . Doctors . my son is 2.2 yrs old and he is hyperactive whole day he will b jumping running from one place to another climb from one place to other. I m a working mom and he stays with my mom and after returning home in evening he is with me. He just says few words (i.e 4-5 words) without any meaning and shouts when he want something.he loves to hear music and he is crazy when he see cars. he doesnt pay attention when we talk to him. but we know he doesnt have hearing pblm as soon as we play some music or if phone rings he will come running from one room to another. He doesnt like to play with other kids. I am totally confused what to be done. i have so many question and no answer. We also started to send him to playgroup and there is some improvement bt not much. I m confused should i wait till he is 3 yrs as everyone says he is too small and boys speak late.
