Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Symptoms of consistent inattentiveness are also associated with this disorder. It is characterized by hyperactivity (physical), inattentiveness, and impulsivity

Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.

Not able to follow instructions and fails to follow school or home work.
My Clild is about 5 yrs old and she is very hypar active. She lacks the same common sense level as the children of her age has.

My son is already 5years and 3 month old. He is still not talking except a few words.
We have already consulted at AIIMS, & Sir Ganga Ram Hospitals Child development center. He was diagnsised as ADHD or Autistic to lesser degree.
Since last one year he has been taking occupational therapy and developmental therapy.
He has improved and doing his own works but is not talking.
He is going to pre nursury and there in excitement he is pushing other kids. In this process he is hurting others. He is also doing the same daily to his younger brother who is 2 years.
Can you please help us in reducing such behavior or help us in any other way.
We will be highly obliged.

my son Satvik 6 year 7 months we found his speak was delay at the age of 2year 6 months. we were in mumbai meet Dr.Hudani@ Cambridge Hospital.
Suggested us to consult occupational therapy.then we shifted to hyderabad, meet Ms.Ranjitha for Occupational & Speak theraphy.. till today we are continuing RISNIA 0.5ml morning & evening along with VALPARIN 1.25 ml morning & evening
Till what age we should continue above medicine, also kindly suggest for alternate solution to avoid medicine

Dear Sir,
I have a 10 year old son and is studying in STD IV. He is not attentive, does not sit in one place in his class, it seems his mind is preoccupied with some thing or the orther, does not respond immediately when people directly communicate to him. I have consulted several doctors and they have doubted mild ADHD. I am a resident of Pune and how can i get an appontment with you in Pune.

sir my daughter is 6 yrs 5 month. some suggest that she is suffering from adhd. please tell me how can we confirm that is this adhd. she is hyper n with lot of energy but she has good concentration in things she love doing (like coloring n cutting), but have problem in studying we get lots of complaints from school regarding her behavior and have no friends.
My 3 year son seems to be suffering from ADHD along with generalised seizure (Myoclonic epilepsy). He is currently under medication for the later. However I am more concerned about for his former problem i.e attentiveness and hyper active behaviour .

my son is 14 yrs and he is been diagonised to be affected with ADHD due to following habits (he is under medication with inspiral 10mg) –
1) high temper 2) inattentive in class 3) absolutely does not want to read or write 4) has got into habits of smoking, drinking and drugs also has girl friends 5)does not respect us, parents 6) resulting in failing in all subjects in his 8th std. 6) likes to spend entire time on TV or video games 7) likes to hear to music and cooking programs on TV, used to like chess and football, but has given up now.
all this happening since the time he turned into a teenager, that is from 7th std, so i am confused is it really ADHD or its age (harmone change) has made him like this?
