Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Symptoms of consistent inattentiveness are also associated with this disorder. It is characterized by hyperactivity (physical), inattentiveness, and impulsivity

Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.
Homoeopathy for ADHD

My son is 8 years old. He is suffering with ADHD. Want your suggestion to help him better. He is taking ADDWIZE OD since last February and taking vision theraphy and Occupational theraphy.

i have refered your web site regarding adhd treatment, my son abhijit is 10 years old , from the age of 4 we got to know his lack ness of concentrating and behavioral problems , we have consulted Dr. suresh rao aroor who is a pediatric and neuro and got to know about adhd from then and immediately staterd allopathic medicines and behavioral theraphy and after six – 8 months i even have stopped all the medicines and continued with only behavioral theraphy , there is a significant improvement after taking him to behavioral thearphy i would like to scan and send his previous reports also by the next mail

Just wanted to check, if adults can be treated as well. I think, I am suuffering ADHD, although, It might be of very very smalll magnitude, because I am working now, did my engineering, prioir to that, I was good with studies.

3.Attention could be aroused and sustained for long time.
4.His reading and Spelling ages were found to be 8.5 & 11.7 years.
5.His reading comprehension level was not age appropriate.

My nephew is 8 yr old, he is very hyperactive by nature he won’t sit in one place and also he cannot speak clearly and not able to get the words properly, he is average in studies. So his school principal made him to sit in same class for 2yrs saying that, he need more attention. And also they suggested that he should not be in normal schools and he should study in other schools, where they give special attention to these kind of kids. When we went and approached other school, it’s typicaly for the kids who is mentaly not well. But my nephew is not like that, he responds whatever we says and he is very good in nature of sharing his stuff to other kids. We are literally worried about him and we took him for eye-queue test as well, there he can solve complex problems easily but he is not able to solve his age group problems sometimes. We are totaly confused about him, where to take him and whom to consult for his cure. We are parallely taking him for speech therapy as well( which is not helping to improve his speech much). We are below middle class family and we are staying in chennai. Could you please suggest us what to do ? you are the only hope for us, sir. Please help us.

my daughter krithika studying in class 5th. has less grasping power, she understands the lesson well ,writes her answers on her own,but she is slow at finishing her work in class. not able to learn long answers easily ,evenif she learns all the chapters well ,on the day of exam she forgets the answers when she is writting. does a lot of spelling mistakes ,has to improve her language skills also both english and hindi. her elder brother studying in 7th is good in his studys . she is in complex ,she is always comparing her slf with him and feels that we at home love him more. pl help?
Sir, My son is 11 years old and in 6th grade. He gets distracted very easily. Attention span is very less. Till date , he is not able to do any of his classwork or homework. It is always incomplete. Iam ritu from faridabad Haryana i have 2 kids one is daughter 8 year old and one is 2.5 year boy. My Daughter name is vasvi studing in 3rd standard from play group to 3rd class she is very weak in studies from pre class. i don’t know the problem. otherwise she is ok well develop not any medical problem,. not any problem i have seen in her body. in morning when i wake up her she is not interested to go in school not in tut ions. when we talk about studies she heard very thing but in 5 minutes she is normal in doing her daily routine work as usual. i don’t think she is suffering from any disease she behave normal.
She is very quite in school and in tution very slow writer when teacher ask something to her she didn’t answer coz she think teacher will scold her if she is wrong. Only in studies she ran away. in 3rd class she didnt know small spelling and subtraction and additions sums.
Pls. help me and give me suggestion.

My son is 6 years old. and he is g increasingly showing all the above signs , worsening day by day. He bites the nails and even the skin around it almost all the time. Both my wife and I take medicines for anxiety disorder. While my wife is off the medication currently,I am still on. I am also not able to control my temper while dealing with my son, though I love him a lot. I do beat him and scold him. Probably much more severe than what it may sound. I know I am causing more damage.
We need to find the solution at the earliest. Is there any side effects on taking Homeo medicine. The way it cures the the condition, could it also worsen the condition . Thats my concern. Could you please advice.

Hi Dr Sharma. I came across your site by chance while searching for remedies for my 10-year old son whom I suspect has ADHD. I refer to the above checklist and he fits each and everyone of them and this makes me extremely worried. He displays all the above symptoms every day. We, as parents, are exhausted and we would really like to find a way to treat his problem. I feel very sorry for him because I am certain half the time he does not know his actions are causing the family around him alot of stress.
Could you help suggest something that would really help him?
