Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Symptoms of consistent inattentiveness are also associated with this disorder. It is characterized by hyperactivity (physical), inattentiveness, and impulsivity

Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.

My son who is 11 years old follows the same behavior. He is very intelligent but cannot sit in one place for more than 10 mins and is always dancing , jumping etc. Can you please guide me what to do?
My son is 8 years old and he is studying in international school in Malaysia. He couldn’t speak and walk early as other children. He started going to school at the age of 1.8 months old. After going 4 to 5 years school then only we realized that he has problem in memorizing words and in writings. After sometime his class teacher also started saying he might have dyslexia so his school has recommended me the dyslexia centre and I let him study there every Saturdays and Sundays but after transferring another school that new school said after 7 years only we can check whether the child is dyslexic or not so I stopped continuing dyslexia centre. Also send him to check another dyslexia centre still that centre recomanded to send him to their school for 6 months but I didn’t and continue his study in the intetnational school but when he was 8 years old finally school could arranged dyslexic specialist from overseas but after examination still the specialist couldn’t say he is a dyslexic child, he said he needs further observation then only he can say and he said my son has minor dyslexia symptoms. Being a mother all the time worried about his future. He is so active, talks excesively, forgets what he was touhgt after sometime or after few days. Complaint from the school he is very playful and lacking concentration even in the Sunday school in the church. He can remember if spelling is easy for an example had, something, together, example, begin…but not harder word like straight, favourite, centre….he can talk well but while writing he will even make simple words mistakes. In the beginning he was writing d for b b for d, 9 for 6 for 9 and 9 for 6. He writes very sort sentences and stories. In his class he is very low compare to all of his friends. He is In primary now in class 3 but in international school here seems student doesn’t need to pass their final exam to get into another higher class in primary but I think in higher class it won’t be the same. My son is aged 7 years 4 months. He is in attentive. I have consulted psychiatric and using Alopathic tablets. But he has becoming a dull. My son is aged about 9 years and we have visited the Sweekar at Hyderabad for treatment. They have tested the child with their psocology doctor and they told the child is suffering from ADHD. He can’t sit at one place, every time talks with us and he can’t concentrate in the class room, he is studying in 3rd class but he don’t know how to do addition or subtraction. He can’t concentrate on the subject whatever we tell about any subject after 5minutes he will forget everything. But he can remember about any TV serials coming in television. In sweekar they have given the Tablet Aspiral-5 tablet to take daily one in the morning. But we have not given the tablet to the child because the tablet can do any side effects to the brain.
Madam please suggest me that we can take the above said tablet or not. Please give right solution to my child so that the child can happy forever.

This is regarding my elder son , born in the year 1992. He is currently pursuing his masters Degree. My son has always been a very well mannered , gentle boy with a lot of information and knowledge which is well admired and appreciated by all of us.He is very inquisitive and has a taste of acquiring more information through books, papers and internet. It appears that he is suppressing many small things that hurt him during various occasions and suddenly he looses temper and becomes very violent. This has now become regular and only begins towards bed time around 9:30 pm or 10 pm. He becomes uncontrollable and starts abusing and physically becoming very violent.
