Cold sensitivity & Homeopathy

Cold Weather Sensitivity and Homeopathy

With the advent of winters, most of us are happy to ‘see off’ those sweltering hot days of summer. But for some, cold weather brings in, its own set of woes and miseries. People who are sensitive to cold temperature are majorly affected by this season. Recurrent Cough, colds and sinusitis are the most common ailments for those who are sensitive. For some the sensitivity to cold weather is so high that even a whiff of cold air is enough to trigger an attack, which could last for weeks or months. If you are one of those who suffer from months of miseries with cough cold, and sinusitis every winter, Then Homeopathy offers a great hope for you. Homeopathy understands and cures this idiosyncratic combination of your cold sensitivity and body’s propensity to develop such stuffy colds.

This cold sensitivity can affect one in many ways. It can range from simply feeling colder than others to respiratory issues like stuffy colds, sinusitis, chronic cough, bronchitis and asthma. Just a mild exposure to cold can trigger a complete sequence of events. There are patients that even at the least exposure to cold air e.g. moving the hand out of the quilt at night or sleeping without a warm head cap at night can lead to weeks of incapacitation. Well, the extent to which one is affected varies a lot. It depends on their level of intolerance and other factors such as genetic tendencies, age, nature of jobs, etc.

Homeopathy has a great armory to deal with cold weather sensitivity. To start off ,Aconitum Napelus commonly known as Aconite is great homeopathic medicine to treat all affections that start with after an exposure to cold air .My advice for all those who suffer from this cold weather sensitivity would be to carry this medicine in your pocket. It is very useful in the first few hours of the exposure when the symptoms have just started e.g. runny nose, headaches shivering etc. Few doses of aconite would be sufficient enough to completely abort the attack of cold. Chronic stuffy colds and sinusitis are also very effectively treated with homeopathy. Silicea kali Bichrome and Pulsatilla are few of the medicines that are very useful in treating these forms. Barking type of cough that starts in kids suddenly after an exposure in kids is best treated with Hepar Sulp and Spongia. People who have their feet sensitive to cold and can never seem to get them warm , homeopathic medicines Calcarea Carb and Silicea can do wonders for them.

The best part of homeopathy is that it can cure ones constitutionally sensitivity to cold weather. In this form of treatment (which is often called as constitutional treatment ) prescription is based on the study of ones complete constitution which includes the physical and the mental makeup .This usually is a prolonged treatment and would require a season or two before any sustainable results are achieved. The most important homeopathic medicines that are used in this form of constitutional treatment are Tuberculinum, Silicea, Calcarea Carb and Psorinum. As Constitutional treatment requires a detailed study of the various aspects of the constitution and uses deep acting medicines it is advisable to take the help of a professional homeopath.

Sir, I am a chronic patient of sinusitis. very much allergic to cold weather and of late cold water also. All the time phlegm keeps generating irrespective of the season. When you blow the nose nothing will come ouy. but phlegm gets dropped in the throat . Typical case of Post nasal drip. Shall appreciate suggesting the solution. Probably owing to this syndrome my hearing capacity has reduced a lot and physical body balance has also been affected. Vertigo type feeling with loss of balance.

I have had a history if asthma and sinus issues as a child and teen. Through my adult years I was able to manage and with diet have conquered the asthma but still have issues with cold air and air conditioners creating tightness and hacking cough spasms that will last 5 days after exposure. The elasticity of 1/3 of each lung lower side is gone. I was predicted to have full blown enphasema 15 years ago and be on oxygen When the environment is favorable I do pretty well. Otherwise I experience a lot of tightness and hacking upon long days of exposure. Since I am in a lot of Seminars that are AC driven, is there a Homeopathic remedy to help with this? I have tried a lot of herbal things but none has really helped much. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank You Clayton

    Sir
I developed a rash first in 1986 when exposed to the cold in dehradun. Thereafter it led to asthma & chronic rhinitis with sinus problems & headaches. Although the breathlessness has reduced I sneeze when I’m exposed to draughts of cold air in Delhi. I’m 56 years old now.. Surprisingly I sweat and again due to exposure I sneeze. There is a feeling of pins & needles & can feel cold skin on upper arms, palms thighs. Even if my arms touch the cold glass on my table I start sneezing. I would start sneezing if I wash my hands. I don’t like cold things. I normally warm my kheer ladoo etc before eating. I sweat profusely for no reason.I’ve reached menopause. I’m very active, can’t tolerate indiscipline but not a disciplinarian as I’ve never raised my hands on children. God fearing prayerful. Happy satisfied with little but maintain distance from people.

    Sir,

I have just read and found this article bolstering my hope. I am one of those miserable one who suffer at every season change, and I don’t like pills or capsules. Therefore I am writing in hope for advice against my condition. Details are as follows:

    Age: 29 years
    Sex: Male
    Height: 5’7″
    Weight: 75+ kgs
Build: A little on the weak side

Problem: highly sensitive to most season changes. Started after a long case of farynxitis (hoping the spelling is right), treated wrongly at the beginning.

    Symptoms:
    Continuously runny nose
    Watery eyes
Sneezing hard, often, successively 3-4 times
One nose blocked when trying to sleep (always!)
Pain inside throat in early morning
Feeling weak (and depressed, but that’s probably just some mental thing)
Light pain in joints and spine
    Sometimes light fever
    Rarely, a headache
Wanting to warm the legs even if the room is warm enough
    Hating any light, especially sunlight
Strongly wishing not to go outside

This invariably happens to me at least 4-5 times a year. I battle through it with paracetamol, but I absolutely hate these “phases” and at this age I’m running out of patience. What can I do, sir?

    Dear Dr.Sharma,
    Hoping you well.

It starts with a feeling of cold in nose and thereafter i feel lump of mucus which unconsciously is swallowed and results in burning sensation or smoky feeling throughout the neck and goes down to the throat. Eventually it ends with my stomach gets disturbed and a feeling of tightness all over the abdomen and i feel loss of appetite during that span of time. Moreover i must tell i am too sensitive person. Could you please prescribe the most suitable medicine for me.

Homeopathy is a medieval way of treatment, having no scientific background and based on primitive knowledge of people lived hundreds years ago. People, don’t trust homeopathists! Do not geopardize your health. Homeopathic drugs is just a water, without any drugs! Homeopathists cheat you, taking your money just for water!

My 12 year old son is generally a sensitive kid. Lately he has developed a sensitivity to the cold which makes him feel nauseous. We live in northern Canada so its becoming challenging for him to wait for the school bus or go outside at recess. Do you have any suggestions?

  18. This sounds wondurfel. I am a dancer who felt greatly at ease with my body for so many years and now that I am older and have had and accumulation of dance injuries, as well as some neurological issues, I need to relate to my body in a much more low-key, at ease kind of way. In the past I found when I went to yoga classes the dancer in me would take over sooner or later I would start to injure myself and have to drop out. I realize that would never happen working with Donna, because she is so mindful and gentle and sensitive to these issues.
