Top 6 Homeopathic Remedies for Hyperthyroidism, Goitre and Graves Disease

Homeopathic Remedies for HyperthyroidisM

Thyroid is a gland in the front of the neck that controls metabolism, or how the body turns food into energy and also affects the heart, muscles, bones and cholesterol. Hyperthyroidism is a medical condition in which the thyroid gland is overactive and produces thyroid hormones in excess. The symptoms may include quick loss of weight, sensitivity to warmth, sweating profusely, hair loss, palpitations, fast heartbeat, diarrhea, tremors mainly hand tremors, increased appetite, swelling of the neck, protrusion of eyes, tiredness and feeling moody, anxious or irritable. Females may face menstrual issues mainly including light periods / missed periods.

Homeopathic remedies for managing hyperthyroidism are natural, very effective and completely safe and strike at the root cause to bring excellent recoveries in these cases. These medicines help to moderate hormonal levels naturally in cases of hyperthyroidism. This way,  there is remarkable relief in the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. In cases of thyroid enlargement and swelling as well, these medicines work wonderfully in gradually reducing the swelling of the thyroid gland. A complete course of individualized homeopathic treatment for the time period as suggested by the homeopathic doctor favours successful recoveries in cases of hyperthyroidism.

Constitutional treatment

It is a well-known fact that homeopathy treats the individual not the disease. This means the homeopathic medicines are prescribed as per the symptoms of the person, including both physical and mental, which is known as constitutional treatment. In cases of hyperthyroidism, homeopathy follows the method of constitutional treatment to get the required results. Homeopathic treatment is highly suggested to manage mild to moderate cases of hyperthyroidism. In severe cases and cases with serious issues (example heart issues, vision problems and Thyrotoxic crisis), homeopathy is not recommended due to its limitation in handling such cases where conventional treatment should be sought urgently.

Homeopathy optimise thyroid gland functioning

Homeopathy does not suppress thyroid function in any form, rather it optimises hormone release by treating the underlying associated cause. This provides long lasting results rather than short-term relief. Homeopathy manages symptoms of an over-active thyroid gland effectively and aids restoration of health and improves the overall well- being of the person.

Safe, natural medicines

Homeopathy is a very safe alternative treatment mode to manage hyperthyroidism as the medicines used are prepared from naturally occurring substances. Due to naturally sourced medicines, there are no side effects at all. These medicines stimulate the body to overcome thyroid issues naturally and gently without causing any type of harm.

Causes

The first cause of Hyperthyroidism can be increased consumption of iodine. Next cause is inflammation of thyroid gland (thyroiditis). Another cause is Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder in which the antibodies are produced by the immune system against its own tissue and attack the thyroid gland, resulting in excessive production of thyroid hormones. This leads to Hyperthyroidism. Other reasons are overactive thyroid nodule (lumps in thyroid gland that produce thyroid hormones in excess) and a growth in pituitary gland called pituitary adenoma that produces excessive TSH that further stimulates thyroid to release thyroid hormones in excess amount. Having family history of thyroid issues, pregnancy, having history of pernicious anemia (reduced red blood cell count due to improper absorption of vitamin B12 by intestines) and smoking increases risk of hyperthyroidism.

Complications

Certain complications including heart issues (heart rhythm disorder, heart failure) and vision problems can occur in severe cases. Thyrotoxic crisis (it has symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fast heartbeat, delirium, confusion) is rare but a serious life threatening complication requiring immediate medical treatment.

  3. Hello,

I am a 46-year-old female with hyperthyroidism and currently on methimazole 5 mg. I would like to try an HGH gel called Soma Derm (recommended by a friend), but it contains something called Thyroidinum 8x. Would this be contraindicated/harmful with HYPERthyroudism? I thank you in advance for your response.

    • Hi Dr. Sharma,

My name is Michelle and my 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2017. She has been on Methmiazole 5mg and now 10mg to balance her levels. Doctor suggests radioactive iodine or surgery as a long term solution and I am hesitant to do either. Do you have any natural remedies that you could recommend? What are their side effects? We live in LA. Thanks!

I am trying to help my mom with her hyperthyroid disease. She was diagnosed about 17 years ago. She has been on methimazole and atenalol since then. Her goiter is quite large on the right side of her neck. She is 91 years old and has difficulty getting around. She has so little energy and complains of constant constriction in her chest. She often suffers from diarrhea. She has become increasingly anxiety ridden. She’s tried many supplements and formulas without success. Is there anything which would help her enjoy a better quality of life even for the little time she has left?

    Dear Doctor

I am 57 years old, suffering from Hyperthyroidism since last 15-20 years & on neomercazole 5mgs a day but during a spell of depression 5 years back after demise of my father, it deteriorated & diabetes Mellitus also surfaced & since then had been on 10 mg of neomercazole. After taking 10mgs for over 2 years, now it has veered to Hypothyroidim with TSH3 is past 5 U/ml at 5.262 U/ml & 5.540 U/ml since last 4 months. Other parameter is FT3 at 5.10mol/l & FT4 at 8.56. Other ailment is Diabetes Mellitus but not taking any medicine but keeping up in hold by walking & restraining sugar, milk etc. HbA1c is around 7.5

I am feeling quite better but fear hypothyroidism now as just latest reports of last 4 months show. I want to jettison allopathic medicine – Neomercazole & want to shift to Homoeopathic treatment regime. I have visible swollen goiter at neck also since few years & got tested negative for any cancer. It is not causing problem in swallowing or else.

What homoeopathic medicine you may suggest to me to keep thyroid perfect as well as diabetes. Please guide.
