Enlarged adenoids and tonsils are a concern in young children as they can be a major source of recurrent infections like sore throat, middle ear infections and sinusitis. This can majorly affect the health and growth of small children in more than one way. Mostly they return back to their original size once the infection is over, however in some cases they tend to remain enlarged when infections are frequent or chronic.
Although some amount of enlargement is considered normal in preschool kids but when grossly enlarged, tonsils and adenoids can cause lot of complications. The most common complications are frequent sore throats, chronic ear infections, nose bleed and hearing loss due to obstruction of the Eustachian tube and accumulation of fluid in middle ear. Enlarged adenoids give a typical ‘pinched nose’ quality to the voice. They can also affect the shape of the child’s palate and the teeth. Major fallout of the enlarged adenoids is that the child may have difficulty in breathing during sleep leading to a condition called as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. This is condition in which along with snoring the child goes through brief periods of pauses in breathing during sleep. This can lead to low oxygen levels with daytime sleepiness.
Enlarged adenoids can be easily identified with careful observation. They usually lead to difficulty in breathing, which may eventually become difficult through nose and also become noisy. Children often become mouth-breathers .The voice quality also changes to become ‘pinched nose type’. Snoring during sleep is very important clue for identifying enlarged adenoids in kids. Sleep should be carefully observed for brief pauses in breathing.

My 3 year old DAUGHTER have following problems related to his breathing :
1) While in sleep mostly he breaths with open mouth & VERY HIGH SOUND snoring.
2) sleeping in sitting stage.
3) While in sleep breath with very loud & lengthy snoring sound.
4) she never want her to be covered with Quilt or blanket everytime we try to cover up she throws it..
5) breathing sound can be heard while she awake and play.
6) She is getting attack of cold/cough & high fever very often. Almost 6-8 times a year
7) She is gaining only very little weight and now 10.5 kg , height is ok
9) She is eating all type of foods.She always likes to drink milk
10)She sweats a lot.
11)around 6 months she was given sambocos 30, and lemna minor 30.not much improvement with those two medicines.
12) now doctor advised to start agraphics neuton mother tincture 10 drops each thrice daily. is it safe to use this much quantity on a kid who is very small?
how much alcohol content is there in this medicine? will there be any side effects for this medicine? alcohol content.. will it affect any other organs.. how long should i have to continue this medicine? which company is the best to select? is bakson good? or any other company?
Other wise all physical & mental activity is very normal. she do not have any problem with hearing , seeing or understanding the things.
Please let us know what kind of diseas she have and what is the treatment for it.

Hi This is SANJAY,in 2006 i observed my hearing is going down. so i have been to Dr. Chandrsheaker Hearing institute for a check up for my both ears. They did the Audiology test and confirmed me that i have frequent sensorial hearing loss in the both ears. Doctor told me that i may lose my hearing after 5 or 10 years, and there is no medicine for this. I have to go for hearing aids.
Please help me and get my hearing back. or atleast constent my hearing is same. I could hear properly now. Is that possible to retain by hearing as same by taking medicine or get back my hearing by taking the treatment.

My girl is 3years old and has been confirmed through his X-RAY that she has an adenoidal enlargement. He had the following symptoms earlier
- In Sleep she breaths with open mouth & snoring.
- Sleeps are disturbed
- she is getting attack of cold/cough almost all the time
- Other wise his all physical & mental activities are normal.
We have been treating him with a nasal saline drops and an local antibiotic as per an ENT’s advice and also ENT’s advise me to remove the enlarged adenoid.

My daughter has enlarged adenoids and doctor had advised her nasal spray constituing steroids… he also advised surgery if not cured.
I had then consulted a homeopathy doctor and she is being treated now.
Off late she has started getting earache and for the past couple of days is having fever. The homeopathy medicines are on but she is not getting releived.
Should I go back to allopathy as the doctor has prescribed clavam.
It is about my son who is 6 years with symptom of enlarged adenoids which is
now confirmed by nasopharynx lateral x-ray as mild enlarged adenoids. He takes
breathes by open mouth and complaints about pain in his throat.
What bother him most and very frequently in recent time is pain in his throat, dry cough and skin allergy from dust mites and inspects and mosquito bites. Skin allergy starts with itching and then form a radish lump and when it is healed it left a black spot on the area. Skin allergy affect only the area of legs and hands and rest of his body being covered by are not affected.

Hello Dr, I have 7 yrs old son, he had Adenoid and tonsil problem, when he was at 4 , he underwent surgery in Bangalore as suggested by ENT specialist , After that surgery , he is 50% ok now, that means, he can easily breath, before surgery he was having the breathing problems. Now the breathing issues starts again whenever he got affected by cold even normal time also, during at night time he is struggling a lot. I have a 7 year old son who regularly suffers from colds & cough, we have tried almost all the medinces, which help for a while and the cold re-occurs again. He started getting colds from the time he started nursery around 2 and half years of age. From the age of 3 he gets at least 2 ear infections a month from Sept till March, the antibiotics are not good for kids at this young age. I have now consulted a few ENT and they advised to have his adenoids removed and grommets inserted in boht ears. I am not comfortable with this solution, I would therefore like to know if Homeopathy has more hope for such cases and how long the duration of the course will be. I have booked his appointment for the operation on 3rd Jan 2012 but would like to cancel it. Hope to hear from you soon.

I have a 5 year old son who for the past 2 years is on and off with nasal congestion or chest congestion. it always starts with a nasal congestion.
He is unable to have a head bath because after which he will stat with a blocked nose then we give him some prescribed medicine and then his nose will start to run.
From September 2011 he stated with a continious clearing of the throat and snoring. the doctor adviced us removal of the tonsils. then we took him to another doctor he just gave us some medication for 6months which he says is not a total solution to the problem.
Now he is unable to eat as he continously clears his throat. In his nose there are small pouches of soft swelling which leaves very little gap to allow air to pass thru.
Please advise as I’m very very worried as he is the whole year having cold and cough and fevers even though he takes the medication twice a day.

My 4 year old daughter snores like adults. Her sleep is not disturb.She gets tickling cough on and off in all seasons. During winters she is always suffering from either cold or some form of cough. The cough gets ok by use of the following medicines (one or combo) – antim tart, ipecac, hepar, belladona. But the snoring just does not go. It is non stop at night, tea tree oil, camphor, vicks nothing helps in that.
What should i try?
My child is also suffering with adnoids and the doctor has suggested surgery.
He is only5 and I feel he is too small to go under the knife.
He has the same symptons that are mentioned by practically all my sisters above.
He finds it very difficult to breathe whilst sleeping sepcially. He coughs and sweats a lot. He also hates the blanket.

Hello, my daughter is 8yrs old, she has been diagnosed with enlarged adenoids and has been advised to undergo surgical procedure to remove them. She has frequent cold and breathe through mouth while sleeping. Even when she doesn’t have cold, she appears to be speaking through her nose. I mean she has that sound in her voice.
