Dengue and its Homeopathic Treatment
As I have been getting dozens of mails everyday since last week ,asking me on how homeopathy can help in dengue fever; I have decided to publish this post rather than answering every mail individually. Also I have been getting queries regarding a particular homeopathic medicine Eupatorium Perfiolatum as being preventive for dengue fever.
Should Eupatorium be used as preventive in dengue
There is no conclusive evidence of Eupatorium being a preventive medicine for dengue fever. Although the symptoms that are produced by dengue closely match this drug , no way should it be used for preventive measures. I would rather advise people to stay away from such hyped claims as this would lead many to shed off their regular guard and become more susceptible to a mosquito byte.
what’s the homeopathic treatment for Dengue
I would advise people along with homeopathic medication, to be in touch with a hospital, whenever dengue has been diagnosed. Kindly do not substitute hospital treatment with homeopathic treatment as platelet count need to be checked quite often. Here Eupatorium has a good role .The key indications for the use of Eupatorium are high fever, with very strong muscle and joint pains.30C potency can be used every hourly for the first few hours and later on the frequency be reduced to four times a day. Vomiting may also be a part of the symptomatology. If the patient starts to bleed rush him to the hospital as the platelet count may have fallen down considerably and would require .If platelet count falls below a critical level (40000/cm), it may be necessary to transfuse fresh blood or platelet rich plasma (PRP). At this stage homeopathic medicines that are very useful are lachesis , Hamemelis ,Millefolium.
I agree Dr Sharma , though many homeopaths consider Eupatorium perfoliatum as a preventive medicine for dengue but the correct way of prescribing should be made according to the homeopathic pronciples. Aphorism 100-102 deals with the treatment of epidemic diseases. According to Dr.Hahnemann, a carefully observing physician can arrive so nearly at knowledge of the true state of the epidemic from the examination of even the first and second patients and can even find a suitable homoeopathic remedy for it. Dr. Hahnemann recommends investigating each epidemic disease as a new and unknown case and selecting medicine according to its symptom similarity.

Dr. sharma, I thoroughly agree with you on this issue of eupatorium being considerd as preventive for dengue ..in reality i ve seen a patient who took eupatorium as preventive but was still diagnosed with dengue. The formula is as follows:
RHUS TOX./ EUPATORIUM PERF./ CHINA OFF./ LEDUM PALUSTRE/ GELSEMIUM/ 5CH/ aã.
Just take this formula to a homeopathic pharmacy and they will know what to do. The formula can be made in globules (sacarose), tablets (lactose), or drops (alcohol at 30%) at ANY HOMEOPATHIC PHARMACY. Include next to the components of the above formula your choice of:
Take 3 globules or tablets or drops ONCE A DAY while the epidemic season lasts. This formula can be taken by adults as well as children of any age, except that children should not use the alcohol-based drops. The globules or tablets should be slowly dissolved in the mouth.
In cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) or even suspicion of DHF (that is, platelets below 150,000), particularly in the case of children, ADD THE FOLLOWING two medicines to the above treatment:
PHOSPHORUS, 12 CH, 4 globules or tablets or drops taken in the morning; and
CROTALUS, 12 CH, 4 globules or tablets or drops taken in the evening, until the platelets return to normal (150,000). DON’T STOP TAKING THE OTHER FORMULA. ACT QUICKLY.
In the cases I have treated, the platelet count RISES surprisingly quickly.

Can we use PSORINUM 1M as prevention from Dengue Fever and if so for how long.
I 100% agree with Dr.Vikas Sharma.There is no concept of prophylactics in classical homeopathy.All is dependent on the existing symptoms of the patient.Due to ignorance of even the so called homeopaths Lahore has run short of CROTALUS HORRIDUS,which someone suggested through cell phone messages as preventive for DENGUE FEVER.I don’t know what Crotalus will do to these poor fellows later in their lives.
