Ulcerative colitis & Homeopathic Treatment

ULCERATIVE COLITIS (UC) is a disease in which the lining of the large intestine (colon) becomes inflamed. This inflammation leads to the formation of raw sores, or ulcers, causing pain and bloody diarrhea. UC usually begins gradually with bloody diarrhea, rectal bleeding, cramps or pain in the belly, and growing urgency to move the bowels. Depending on which area of the colon is affected, the stool may be normal or hard and dry.
Other symptoms may be fever, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, anaemia from loss of blood, pus in the stool, malnutrition and slow growth in children.
UC can also affect parts of the body outside the colon, causing skin sores, mouth sores, joint pain, and inflammation of the eyes, the liver, the kidneys or the gallbladder.
Homeopathic medicines Merc Sol, Merc Cor, Sulphur and Phosphorus are a few of the important ones used in treating ulcerative colitis. The patient requiring Merc Sol has a continuous urge for passing stool and urine ? a never-get-done feeling. One often passes pure blood or bloody water. Symptoms asking for Merc Cor are nearly the same as those of Merc Sol; it is only the intensity which contributes to the selection. Merc Cor has more violent attacks, with a violent urge to pass stool and to urinate. Intense suffering follows. Phosphorus is indicated in cases which have painless and profuse stool passed involuntarily and freely.
Sulphur is indicated in long-standing cases of ulcerative colitis

I have been suffering from ulcerative colits for last two years and on strong elopathy medicine called Imuran (azathioprine) since then. There is no permanent cure in elopathy as my gastroentrologist told me. Can you please recomend me any homeopathy medicine which can cure the problem forever. I will really apperciate that.

Dear Dr. Verma,
My husband is suffering from UC for last 15 years. He is now 47 years old and he does not drink or smoke. He always watch what he eats and always eats only organic foods. His disease is strange, it did not flare up in the past, it was always at the stable condition, he used to go to the toilet for 6-7 times a day only in the mornings before noon. However lately it is flared up a lot, since two weeks he is making lot more trips to the washroom, he is going for every 2 to 3 hours and he had lost 7 pounds of weight. His colonoscopy is scheduled to be on Friday Feb 1st. and we shall see. From his last colonoscopy year ago it was not so bad, he lost all the pockets though but stable and no chances of any dangerous disease.
Would you please provide any suggestions or recommendation to us?

I have been suffering for ulcerative colitis from many years.I was devastated when i got to know that there is no permanent cure for ulcerative colitis.Living with ulcerative colitis effects our normal life and totally changes the course of life.We have to think twice while going out for a trip because of the embrassments we might encounter,like urgency to go to the rest room,going to the rest room many times,feeling like going to the rest room after lunch etc…I really hope that doctors or scientist will find a permanent cure for this disease.Once i went out with my freinds and had takila(mexican drink) and felt much better.I dont know how this will help.But i would appreciate if you could research on this.Maybe this might help in finding a permanent cure.

I have been feeling inflamation in my stomach for the last one and half years. I went to a gastroenterologist and he told to take colonoscopy in last october-07 and diagnosed ulcerative colitis. I took mesacol and balacol medicine and now also I am taking balacol and I am not getting relief. The problem is starting after I went to latrine. I am suffering from the colitis since last 18 years and my main complaint is pain in the left side of the abdomen. This is felt particularly after the evacuation. Though I dont have to go to toilet more than 2 time in the morning but I never felt light after going to the toilet and heavyness and urge to go to toilet remains. In the evening gas formation increases and acidity remains present. Please suggest me homoeopathy remedy for my condition. my husband Rajesh Maru is suffering from ulcerative colitis (in sigmoid colon) since last 3 years.He had 5 flare ups till now and recently he is suffering from heavy flareup.He has to go 15-20 times in washroom and unformed stool with blood.He has lost weight about 15 kgs.The doctor told due to the heavy dosage o f all the steroids-wyzolone,mesacol suppository and entofoam enema,the disease have worsened.He is taking the homeopathy treatment also.The doctor is giving lycopodium and sometimes sulpur too.Because of these medicine of homeopathy he is suffering from acute headache thrice in a week.Just he is taking 4 bananas,yogurt and rice and sometimes boiled potato.
