Dupuytren’s contracture is a condition that develops over the course of many years and affects the hands and fingers. The first feature appearing in Dupuytren’s contracture is thickening of the skin of the palms or formation of nodes on the palms of the hands. These nodes may or may not be painful or tender to touch. As the condition progresses, the range of mobility of the affected fingers starts to decrease. In the later stage, deformity of the hand develops, where the affected finger gets bent unto the palmar surface of the hand permanently. This leads to an inability to straighten the affected finger. The deformity is due to the formation of cords of tissue that contracts with time. In a majority of cases, the little finger is affected, followed by the ring finger. In some cases, the middle finger may also get involved. The involvement of the index finger and the thumb in this condition is rare.

Precizez că fenomenul descris, s-a instalat progresiv, dar mobilitatea tuturor degetelor de la mâna stăngă a fost redusă ca urmare a unui traumatism cerebro-medular survenit in urmă cu cca. 30 de ani. Diagnosticul neurologic, stabilit in urma acestui traumatism a fost de tetrapareză spastică!

Precizez de asemenea că am urmat mai multe tratamente homeopatice care au redus durerile arzatoare ale coloanei vertebrale (cu remediul Hypericum Perforatum) și vindecat diplopia (cu Gelsemium Sempervirens). Constituția mea este Phosforica (longinin, slab, articulatii flexibile, dantură dreaptă, carii moderate).

Dear Dr. Sharma. My husband was recently diagnosed with Dupuytren’s in both palms, one more affected than the other.
We have Ruta Graveolens (6c), Silicea and Rhus Tox (both 30c).
His condition seems more along the line for Rhus Tox; he broke his fingers while skiing in 1993, has itchy and dry skin ontop of the nodules so the look like hardened callouses. At times, his fingers freeze but relax after a few minutes. I’m not sure how much Rhus Tax to use, or for how long. Would 4 pellets every 2 hours be excessive?

I was diagnosed with Duputren’s contracture 1 month ago. Pain in both palms started 2 1/2 months ago. You can see the tendons being pulled on right hand, less on left. Which homeopathic remedy should I take? What should I expect from this. Also I think my father had this for decades, one finger was always curled, he never spoke about it.

I’ve had Dupuytrens contracture for over 10 years. The lower half of the little finger on my right hand is thick. I can bend and straighten it without any pain. Just today I attempted to do an exercise that I have been doing normally for years. But today I experience intense nerve pain when I tried walking in a primoral position. Is this pain associated with Dupuytrens? I would appreciate any of your thoughts.

Thank you for this great article. I have developed dupuytren nodules on the palm of my left hand 6 months after breaking my left wrist. I don’t have much pain but do notice some stiffness in my 4th finger on that hand. Would Ruta be the best choice of homeopathics fo me?

I have had Dupuytren’s contracture for at least 15 years and the ring finger is slightly bent towards the palm on both hands but it is slightly more severe on my left hand. For quite a number of years, it has not worsened and does not prevent me from doing any jobs which involve the hands. The homoeopathic remedies describe pain but I have no pain in my hands. With this in mind what remedy would help my contracture.

A hand specialist, Doc of osteopathy, recently diagnosed me w Dupuytrens Disease. I can send pics. I am 58 yrs old. I have no pain yet. I noticed the condition about 3 yrs ago. There is one cord on my left hand and 2 nodules on the joint if my right hand on ring finger and middle finger. The palm itself has a couple bubbles and small lump that seems to be getting bigger. I cut out dairy from my diet (mostly) about 20 yrs ago when diagnosed w MS. MS is no longer present. I am wondering if there is anything you could recommend to slow or stop the progress of the disease? I feel it has something to do w my diet. I am thinking of having the magnesium level tested in my body to see if I lack magnesium, since I read that Magnesium supplementation has helped some people.
What are your thoughts please? Is there anything you think homeopathic wise that may help?

My fingers have not contracted yet, but one finger on each hand feels tight when I bend it backwards. There are nodules/nodes on both palms.
