What is Jaundice?
Jaundice is a common condition caused by high bilirubin level in the blood. It is manifested as yellow pigmentation of the skin, in the white of the eye (sclera) and other mucus membranes. Another term for jaundice is ‘Icterus’. Jaundice symptoms are indicative of liver damage as bilirubin is mainly processed by the liver. Jaundice can occur in both children and adults.
