What is Keratoconus?
The cornea is a transparent layer in front of the eye that covers the iris, the pupil, and the anterior chamber. It is a transparent dome shaped structure, which helps to focus and control the entry of light into the eye. The bulging out of the cornea, like a cone, is known as keratoconus. Protein fibers assist in holding the cornea in place. In keratoconus, there is a weakening of these fibers, making it difficult for the cornea to remain in place and causing it to bulge out conically. These changes in the shape of the cornea can appear gradually or suddenly. In some cases, the progression of changes in the shape of the cornea stops after a while; while in others, these changes continue for many years. In advanced stages of keratoconus, there may be scarring of the cornea. Homeopathy offers treatment for many ophthalmic diseases. Keratoconus is one such condition where these medicines can help. However, the severity of the problem may vary for both eyes.

My son who is 24 who recently is dx of Keratconous. I’m a health coach and follow a primal diet. I have gotten my son into eating this way but he continues to eat some processed food. Is there anything further he should be doing? We have talked about cross linking which is when they put riboflavin drops on the eye and then use a UV light?? I have ordered the Calcarea Iodato What are your thoughts? Thank you for any help you can provide🙏

Hi doctor, my son (15 years old) recently diagnosed with keratoconus in both eye. Cross linking of cornea (surgery) of left eye had already been done in August 2021 at PGI, chandigarh and after rehabilitation for five months, they advised scleral lens and power glasses also. Now, they advised him follow up for both eye in June 2022.
Doctor, I want to know, whether there is treatment in homoepathy for correcting the vision that he lost in left eye? PGI told me that surgery has been done to stop the progression and he has to live with this condition and vision improvement only with scleral lens. Secondly, right is better than left now but has initial stage of keratoconus. Can we find hope with treatment in homoepathy. Please suggest some treatment. Thanks
