Speech delay is the most common type of developmental delay. A child not paying attention to other people and not responding to sounds is one of the first warnings of possible speech delay. My son of 3yrs is finding it difficult to speak properly, he can call mummy, water, bread, come, go, thank you, bye bye he doesn’t pronounce it well but you can hear what he says. My grandson is 3 years and 3 months old. He can recite nursery rhymes and count hoti 10 in both english and hindi. Can recognise english alphabets. Recognises animals, birds, vegetables and fruits etc. However he does not do basic communication like calling mummy, papa etc. and asking for food and other things. Also does not follow commands.
