Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Symptoms of consistent inattentiveness are also associated with this disorder. It is characterized by hyperactivity (physical), inattentiveness, and impulsivity

Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.

My son who is studying in the 10th standard is having all the indications of ADHD.He is not attending school since one year.He only goes to school for one day in a week.He loves to be out of the house with his friends for most part of the day,going from one place to another.He can’t concentrate on his studies for more than one hour.His voice have become rough and he rebels too much using bad language if his parents want to correct him.We are struggling with him since two to three years.We also tried keeping him in hostel but he came back after six months.

Doctor, even after trying all these years(I am 17 now) it has been very rare when I find myself studying constantly for an hour or two. It was not so intense when I was young. My younger daughter born on 15th Jan 2012 and since age of 10-12 months, we found no social smile and eye contact and gradually found she was not taking instructions. All the clinical tests were OK and was diagnose as mild autistic by Dr Archna Kadam in Pune in Oct13. Since then we are taking her to Speech therapy 3 times a week and once for OT. Most of the observations from specialist now leading to ADHD but not very sure. Currently she is taking some of the instruction from her mother, finger out many things by name (15-20 in numbers), repeat actions on 7-8 rhythms. But biggest problem still is speech, lack of attention, hyperactivity and high tend-rem. She is currently taking attentio and brainwise and Zinc syrup.

I am Manjula, from Bangalore. I have blessed with a beautiful girl who is 4.5 years now. She is a wonderful soul and very active too…
But I have noticed so many things in her routine which look dangerous for her as a child. Initially we too were enjoying her thinking she is too active and smart but now its same behaviours are going out of control. she is not co operative when we talk to her gently and lovingly and we are not able to scold always.

my son is 12 years old suffering from adhd and dyselaxia and presently taking inspiral SR 20 in the morning and sizodon in night. Kindly advise us there is any medicine for adhd dyselaxia.
