Attention Deficit Hyperactive disorder ADHD
It is estimated that about 3-5 percent of all kids, have this disorder. Also the most unfortunate thing is that in many cases this disorder goes totally undiagnosed .The child is often mistaken as hyper-energetic kid or as just being more playful, but the reality is that many such kids suffer from a medical disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.
It is a common belief that only kids showing signs of physical hyperactivity have some problem related to this disorder. Well, this actually it is not the complete truth. Symptoms of consistent inattentiveness are also associated with this disorder. It is characterized by hyperactivity (physical), inattentiveness, and impulsivity

Kids having ADHD usually depict either of three patterns of behavior. Either they are more of the hyperactive type, which means that they are more physically hyperactive (constantly moving jumping running fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place etc) or the ‘inattentive type’ (having difficulty in concentrating, easily distracted) or the ‘combined type’ (having symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention both).
Not all children who run and jump too much suffer from ADHD. It is very important to realize that for a child to be diagnosed with ADHD, certain criterion has to be met with also called as the DSM criteria, before a child can be said to be suffering from it.
Nobody exactly knows what causes ADHD. Recent researches point out the causes could be either neurobiological or genetical. Certain chemical levels in the brain have been found low (dopamine -a chemical that sends messages to the part of the brain involved in attention, movement and motivation). Increased levels of heavy metals (lead) in the body is also seen in some kids .The kind of parenting given to the child has no role in the causation of this disorder, although bad parenting can influence the severity of this disorder.
Implication of ADHD can have far reaching effects, with the schooling of the child taking the biggest hit. Poor performance in school due to ADHD can lead to a hampered self esteem in the child .ADHD can also lead to learning disabilities, defiant behavior ,conduct disorder(anti-social behaviour,stealing ,fighting), anxiety disorders and depression .
Severe forms of ADHD are difficult to differentiate from milder forms of autism, a careful approach is necessary in diagnosing and treating such forms. Such severe forms affect the child?s normal mental development .for example speech and cognitive skills can be markedly affected in such cases.

I beleive my child is suffering from similar disease, as from the day one of his birth he is delayed in all activities, he is also very hyperactive does’t concentrate at all he is 7 years, still he is not able to speak properly & very poor in studies. kindly advice for same.

Thanks for your research on this Disorder. I went through your entire article and felt that all the symptoms narrated above are with my son who is in the age of 6 yrs except he sits and gives attention when he plays any game with any electronic gadget. Alongwith this one he does bedwetting also. Further this also I would like to share that his appetite is very poor.kindly suggest me that what and how i can treat this disorder.

Hi sir my son is 4 year and 3 months .he has delayed speech .at 3 i took him to a neurologist who said he is hyperactive and small EEG correction is reflected.mri was ok.he prescribed axepta 10 and valrate syrup.i am continuing it there is some improvement also but what are the side effects of it and what is the actual cause of delayed speech.

My 4 yrs old son recently diagnosed for combined type of ADHD. Results are showing not much severe but slightly high above the cut-off mark in ADHD test. Doctor has prescribed BRAINWISE Syrup which he has started taken regularly. Doctor has also asked for Parental Training and Structured Behaviour Management, We have already arranged to go for some training sessions regarding this issue. Finally doctor has also advised to give him medicine ADDWIZE / INSPIRAL 5mg. twice daily regularly.
But we are quite confused to give this medicine to such a very young kid…particularly for its very long term dependency and several side effects….is there any other safe and trusted examined alternatives like homeopathic treatment for this ADHD…pls. let me know..we are in very much anxiety about my kid’s future…he is presently a student of nursery.
my son is 17 yrs old and i think all the symptoms match this disorder.
he is very unstable, could not concentrate on his studies, playful, etc. now doctor has done all the tests and has perscribed him Acepta 10 mg. 1 tablet for three days then 2 tablets for 5 days and then 3 tablets for 1 month.
please advise if this will have any side effects.i am veery worried. Also will this treatment help.

My child Deepak has been diagnosed with hyperactivity (attention deficit – constantly moving, jumping, running, fidgeting squirming, having difficulty sitting in one place, screams at times etc). He has completed 5 years. He is under medication. Doctor prescribed Inspiral & Sizodom. ALso suggested Omega-3 (Brainwise tonic) He has been under medication since more than 6-8 months but not seen any improvement. ALso the side effect is that he was very good in studies but since medication he is not at all paying attention to studies. He keeps on asking something or the other like chocolates, toys etc and if we don’t give then he screams. He screams a lot in the class. School people are not accepting our kid for admission. ANyhow we are managing. Please suggest as to what type of medication or cure will help him recover the deficit.

I have two children of the ages 7 & 5 years.Elder one is diagnosed as adhd patient.For about three years he is under treatment but very little development.When he was two years he used to speak like anyone,later he stopped speaking,uttering some meaningless words,inattentive,hyperactive and he was not able to understand the instructions.He used to bang his head.Now,he is listening to our instructions , many of our instructions are following.But no considerable change in his speech and mild hyperactivity is seen and he is impulsive also.Please suggest remedy for my boy both medication and diet.

My son ‘Nirban’ diagnosed as ADHD later when he started going to school. H eis now eitht year old, studying class 3 in a good English medium school. We are getting complaints about his behaviors from his school, he useed to be calm and quite in some days, but remain very impatient in few days.
During his child hood days he was ok unlike any other kid. Slowly he started showing the behave of restlessness, not being able to focus on the subject, jumping etc etc. However, if I am being able to control his activity, he listens to me. This has happened when my father passed away and his younger brother took birth. Yes we noted some sibling rivalry initially, but it is now settled down. At home his mother is not being able to control him at all.We are consulting with a allopathic(psychiatrist out here in a Hospital, which considered as one of best hospital in this region i.e Western Orissa. We started his treatment with Inspiral 5mg and slowly increased the dosage as per the doctors advice, i.e 10 mg along with acepta and few other dosage like valparine and sinodoze one tablet or one 10ml syrup everyday.
