Sinusitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the nasal sinuses-hollow cavities within the cheekbones found around the eyes and behind the nose.
The primary functions of these sinuses are to warm, moisten and filter the air in the nasal cavity. They also play a role in our ability to vocalise certain sounds.
Sinusitis, which is common in winter, may last for months or years if inadequately treated. There are two types of sinusitis. Acute sinusitis, is often caused by a bacterial infection and usually develops as a complication five to 10 days after the first symptoms of a respiratory infection such as the common cold.
Then there is chronic sinusitis, which may also be caused by bacterial infection. Although colds are the most common cause for acute sinusitis, those with allergies may also be predisposed to develop this problem.

I HAVE BEEN OPERATED FOR ETHMOID SINUISITIS IN FEB-13 AS ANTIBIOTICS HARDLY HELPED me.SInce then I still have stiff head as if carrying heavy thing on the head and a feel of nerves have been stiffened.Though 80 % cure was there after operation still I feel discomfort with the problem persists as of now with head ache also.Diffrentt ENTS were consulted including the doctor who conducted operation tome.once again antibiotics were given and they have opined that some infection still persists in ethmoid and advised to wait for sometime for reoperation.ALL neurologists were consulted with out fruitful outcome.The doctorwho has conducted operation of FESS and NASAL SEPTRUM said he would once again clear off once again. kindly advise me as I am desperated and feel like commiting some thing in desperation.

I am 31 years old,had allergic bronchitis one month ago.There was a lot of congestion,had a course of antibiotics for one week.
But now I am suffering from throat irritation. Blood is coming out of my mouth whenever I am coughing.
The face xray shows hazy frontal sinuses,other sinuses clear.nasal septum is central.No bony erosion seen.No soft tissue abnormality seen.

My son is 16 year old.he has problem from his childhood that he breath through mouth.some doc said that he has adenoids .recently I shown him to a homeopathic doc. On his advice we have take his nose x ray . It shows of bilateral maxillary sinustis with rihnitis and slight d.n.s to the right side. Cameopathic treatment for this will be a better option

My wife is suffering from sinus and having episodes of severe headaches atleast twice in a month. Past 4 years she is taking medicines prescribe by doctors and found no relief from this cold and headache episodes. I am Ajay Lingerkar and my brother-in-law aged around 37 yrs. is having Sinus problem from couple of years. In an attempt to cure the same, he underwent surgeries couple of times. The doctors said that there was a bone which grown and hence has to cut it.
