ULCERATIVE COLITIS (UC) is a disease in which the lining of the large intestine (colon) becomes inflamed. This inflammation leads to the formation of raw sores, or ulcers, causing pain and bloody diarrhea. UC usually begins gradually with bloody diarrhea, rectal bleeding, cramps or pain in the belly, and growing urgency to move the bowels. Depending on which area of the colon is affected, the stool may be normal or hard and dry.
Other symptoms may be fever, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, anaemia from loss of blood, pus in the stool, malnutrition and slow growth in children.
UC can also affect parts of the body outside the colon, causing skin sores, mouth sores, joint pain, and inflammation of the eyes, the liver, the kidneys or the gallbladder.
Homeopathic medicines Merc Sol, Merc Cor, Sulphur and Phosphorus are a few of the important ones used in treating ulcerative colitis. The patient requiring Merc Sol has a continuous urge for passing stool and urine ? a never-get-done feeling. One often passes pure blood or bloody water. Symptoms asking for Merc Cor are nearly the same as those of Merc Sol; it is only the intensity which contributes to the selection. Merc Cor has more violent attacks, with a violent urge to pass stool and to urinate. Intense suffering follows. Phosphorus is indicated in cases which have painless and profuse stool passed involuntarily and freely.
Sulphur is indicated in long-standing cases of ulcerative colitis

My wife is diabetic since 3 yrs and until last month she was taking Glycomet 1000mg/day. She developed burning sensation in the stomach since couple of months hence could not eat normal south Indian foods but resorted to bland diet including juices, sweets which increased her blood sugar level to 478. Meanwhile, she developed frequent diarrhea and often with mucus and blood. But this was diagnosed as infection and she was hospitalized. Now, she is on insugen 50:50 and sugar level is around 120. But in spite of 2 courses of antibiotics her loose motion and mucus with blood is often continued. Stool tests have proved negative for any infection. Her present condition is diagnosed as ulcerative colitis. Please suggest if there is permanent cure in homeopathy for UC and what medicine she should take. She is 53 yrs in age now and she is taking altroxin for hypothyroidsm. Pls advice DR. Thanks.

Hi doctor i am now 42 years old….7 years before i diagnose by chrons disease….i went for long time treatment…within 3 years time i been get well and the doctors said my chrons are very low …but then i started big trouble in my life.when the crohens left from my body i been disagnose by rectrel stricture…i been treat for baloon dialation but its not help for me …fianally now the doctors decides to go operation but i really dont want to go operation…also the said theair is only 5o% chances to cure….it may be comeback and possible chances for leak

Dear Dr.Sharma, My 17 years old Son is Suffering from UC for last 1Year.He has Pan Colitis but of Mild Variety(As Seen in Colonoscopy).He received Mesalamine and Prednisolone in Tapering Doses.Initially he responded Well but soon Relapse Occured.His main Symptoms are Watery and Bloody Stools (4 to 5 times a Day)With Urgency of Passing Stools Early in the Morning.His Appetite is Alright but Has Lost Some Weight(At the Start of this Problem Last Year He lost about 7-8 Kilos but in the Present Flare up has lost 2 kilos in about a Month.He has Anaemia Hb 9.5 %.He is a Highly Stung type of Personality(You may call Angry Young Man) I am now searching For Alternative Modes of Treatment (Other than Allopathy) My Question to you is Whether Homeopathy will work for His IBD(Particularly I am Worried about Loss of Blood in Stools.

Dear Dr- i have UC for the past 5 yess n from biopsy we came to know that i m alergic to lactose. Due to uc my skin becomes so dry that i have to do oilling every day n now the problem of boils also arises that too near genetals as my symtems r same that of merc sol but want to know what else i will do to get rid of UC. I am Prem from Hyderabad and recently diagnosed with UC and taking Mesacol 800 and Acetamenophin.
