Types Of Urethral Stricture In Males
1. Anterior urethral stricture: It is common type and comprises last 9-10 inches of male urethra down the posterior section. Among anterior type – bulbar urethra is most commonly involved followed by penile and panurethral stricture. These occur particularly after trauma or infection. In this, there occurs fibrosis of corpus spongiosum causing narrowing of lumen of urethra.
2. Posterior urethral stricture: It is 1- 2 inches long passes from the opening of bladder to urethral portion through prostate and pelvic floor muscles. These follow from pelvic injury/pelvic radiation.
Complications Of Urethral Stricture
Urinary retention, Urinary Tract Infection, Kidney stones, urethral fistula and Hydronephrosis (swollen kidneys from build-up of fluid inside them) are a few complications.
Investigations
1.Uroflowmetry Test: It measures the amount of urine passed out from the body and the speed of its passage, plus the total time taken to pass all urine
2.Retrograde urethrogram (RGU): In this, an X-ray film is taken after injecting a contrast agent through penis opening. It will reveal location and length of stricture in urethra if present.
3.Cystoscopy: A camera is inserted in penis to view inside urethra and to look for a stricture
4.MRI, CT scan and Ultrasound: These are done to view urethra and adjacent structures

I live on South Africa and had an injury on urethra more than a decade ago.I was operated and also had used a catheter. I had upto 12 follow up dialatations that all deteriorated to the same state.So i had to stop those dialatations in 2014.May passage of urine is still restricted as before with a burning sensation at times and intermittent flow.Iam looking for a solution which is not surgery. I had an accident about 45 years back where my urethra was ruptured. A catheter was kept in the urinary tube for about 3 month for the treatment.
I had no problem in passing urine or even sex for about 40 years.
I was admitted to a hospital for very high fever where some medicines were given which caused my urine flow to stop. I was again inserted catheter for about 12 days when things became normal for another two years.

Hello, I have a diagnosed condition of Urethral Stricture, which I had been catheterized for 1 Week under the care of the VA Medical Center here in Portland, Oregon. The Catheter has now been removed for around 3 Weeks and my weak stream/smaller stream/difficult ability to pass all Urine at one time (fully empty) has recurred. I am a 23 year male suffering from urethral stricture… means as I have known from RGU reports, a section of my urethra is narrow which makes it difficult for me to urinate or sometimes painful even. I have consulted my brother, he has a good practice in homeo medicine, he has suggested me panphris 30 for a week. I wanted to know, is this ok.
