Warts are rough, hard growths on the skin caused by infection with HPV – Human Papilloma Virus. There are more than 100 different strains of HPV. My adult son was diagnosed with deafness in the left ear, he was operated on to correct the stapes but the operation failed. In the look into the ear the doctor showed my son the areas of scarring around the site. A year later he now has visible warts in the ear canal, and he believes these are what existed in the ear. He has had quite a few rough years and I’m wondering if the ear condition could be a virus that has caused this damage and how should he treat it? He’s now very skeptical, and with good reason, of the standard doctors. Music is his passion so losing hearing in one ear has been a terrible blow.
