10 Effective Homeopathic Remedies for Dry Mouth

Dry mouth (medically known as xerostomia) is a condition that arises when the salivary glands in the mouth don’t make an adequate amount of saliva to keep the mouth moist. There are multiple reasons that can lead to dry mouth; many medicines like those used to treat high BP, depression, anxiety and chemotherapy drugs can cause dryness in the mouth. Radiation therapy to head and neck can damage salivary glands and result in decrease salivation. Dry mouth can arise in elderly people, in diabetics and also in people who drink too much alcohol, chew tobacco, smoke, or use marijuana. Dehydration and breathing with an open mouth can also result in dry mouth. Homeopathic remedies for dry mouth bring excellent results by addressing the root cause behind the dryness. 8. Vivek bindal says:

Hello dr , my daughter is 4 years old. She never had excessive saliva like other kids. She always has dry mouth. She has little bit saliva in her mouth but that saliva is very thick. In the morning her mouth smells bad. What medicine should i give her?

  10. Dinesh Sinha says:

Dr. Sharma, I have dry and empty feeling in mouth and stomch. As if no digestive fluids in stomach. Food difficult to digest and no pressure of motion. As if entire system is hanging.

  11. I have a question. I am a 73-year-old woman. Several weeks ago I started developing very dry eyes, mouth, inner lips, throat, and even lungs (or that’s how it seems). It is possible that it is an allergic reaction to a next door neighbor in my condo builing who started smoking very strong cigarettes and his smoke comes into my apartment. The smoke makes me feel horrible overall, and because I can’t get the Condo Board to take any action and I don’t really want to move at this time, it’s all made me somewhat anxious and depressed as well.
I live in Florida, and need air conditioning, particularly at night. But when I breathe in the dry air, everything feels even dryer. So I’m trying to figure out if there is a homeopathic remedy that might help. Someone suggested Ignatia amara, but I took it for almost a week and felt horrible – nauseous, just overall not right. Within a day of stopping taking it the nausea and not-right feeling were gone. So yesterday I started taking Natrum Mur, 1 pellet 3x daily. But I feel just as dry, maybe even more so, and kind of hot all over. Maybe that is just temporary and will balance out, but I’m not sure it’s the right remedy. What homeopathic remedy do you advise?
By the way, there is no bitter taste nor “bad, offensive odour from mouth.”
And eating or drinking water or tea relieve the dryness in the mouth temporarily, but then it returns. And I drink a fair amount of water and herbal tea daily!

  12. I have dry mouth and throat which sometimes feels like choking due to less or no saliva in mouth. My tongue is while and dry . I also have a feeling I have chicken or flour allergy which is causing this condition as when I eat these my condition becomes worse .

  13. i am having cheeck n tongue biting problem from childhood. dryness in mouth in eating
