Top 7 Homeopathic Medicines for Hydrocele

Hydrocele refers to the swelling in the scrotum that holds the testicles due to the collection of excessive fluid in the sheath (tunica vaginalis) surrounding a testicle. Hydrocele can be congenital i.e. a child may be born with hydrocele or it may develop later in life. The causes of hydrocele developing late in life are inflammation or injury within the scrotum.

Homeopathy is a very safe, effective, and non-invasive alternative treatment option for cases of hydrocele. Hydrocele, which is considered a surgical condition in the conventional mode of treatment, can be treated magnificently with homeopathic medicines. Homeopathic medicines stop the further progression of this condition and help to reduce swelling in the scrotum by aiding fluid absorption collected in the sheath around the testicle. Along with swelling, they also help to relieve any associated symptoms such as pain or dragging sensation.

Homeopathic medicines for hydrocele are of natural origin, making them very gentle, safe, and harmless for use in children as well as adults. They treat hydrocele naturally and do not carry any toxic side effects. One may also easily discontinue homeopathic medicine on the advised homeopathic protocol after the desired outcome is obtained.

Homeopathic medicines for hydrocele are prescribed based on the principle of individualization in every case. Individualization means selecting medicines based on the characteristic key symptoms in every case. So, it is advised to always consult a homeopathic doctor to get the best results as self-medication might not help here. The prescription of the medicines, potency selection, dosage, and repetition vary from case to case as per many factors like the age of a person, duration of complaint, the severity of the issue, and amount of swelling. In adults, homeopathic medicines can be repeated frequently and high potencies can be used,  as the case demands. On the other hand, in children, low potencies with infrequent repetition are usually done.

Homeopathy, if started well in time, can help in curing many hydrocele cases and save a person from surgery. However, the results vary depending on the duration, intensity of complaint, age of the patient and individual’s response to homeopathic treatment.

Causes of Hydrocele

Though hydrocele can occur at any age but is most common in newborns and males over 40 years of age.

A). In Infants (Babies Less Than One Year Age)

During the development of a male baby, the testicles descend from the abdominal cavity into the scrotum shortly before birth. There is a natural sac (containing fluid) surrounding the testicles. This sac closes and fluid absorption occurs during the first year of the baby. But if this sac does not close, it results in hydrocele results which is termed communicating hydrocele. If the sac closes but some fluid remains behind around the testicle, it is termed non-communicating hydrocele.

B). In adults

Hydrocele may occur when the sac (tunica vaginalis) produces excessive fluid or when the fluid is not properly absorbed, it results in the build-up of fluid around the testicle.

Hydrocele may arise from:

1. Injury or inflammation of scrotum

2. Infection/inflammation of testicles (orchitis) or epididymis(epididymitis)

3. Sexually transmitted infections

4. Rare Inguinal hernia

What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Hydrocele?

In most cases swelling in the scrotum is the only sign. It may be on one side or both sides. The swelling may be less in the morning and more in the evening.

Other than this, it may cause discomfort, a dragging sensation in the scrotum along with heaviness. In some cases, pain, and redness of the scrotum may also be present.

If there occurs sudden intense pain in the scrotum or swelling mainly after scrotal injury, immediate medical help should be taken. This could be due to blocked blood flow from twisted testicles (testicular torsion) that needs urgent treatment to prevent permanent damage to the testicle.

Types of Hydrocele

1. Communicating hydrocele: A natural sac (containing fluid) surrounds the testicles that close and fluid absorption occurs during the first year of the baby. If this sac does not close, it results in hydrocele which is termed communicating hydrocele. Communicating hydrocele is associated with inguinal hernia.

2. Non-communicating hydrocele: If this sac closes but some fluid remains behind around the testicle, it is termed non-communicating hydrocele.

3. Nuck’s hydrocele (also called Female hydrocele): It is a rare form of hydrocele occurring in female children when the complete obliteration of the canal of nuck (abnormal patent pouch of the peritoneum) fails to take place.

How to diagnose Hydrocele?

In cases suspected of hydrocele, the doctor conducts a physical examination to check swelling, pain and tenderness in scrotum. Then he will do a transillumination test. In this test a doctor will shine a strong light through the scrotum. In the case of hydrocele, the light will pass through the scrotum due to the fluid in it while in the case of some solid mass (tumor) the light will not pass. To confirm the diagnosis of hydrocele, an ultrasound of the scrotum is the most commonly recommended test.

What is Dermatographic Urticaria and how does Homeopathy treat it effectively

Dermatographic urticaria, also known as dermatographia or dermatographism, refers to a skin condition where scratching the skin causes a reaction leading to the appearance of raised, inflamed lines called welts on the skin. It is one of the most commonly occurring types of urticaria. Another name for this condition is ‘skin writing’. It causes an allergic kind of reaction on the skin with signs and symptoms including raised lines (pink, red, purple in color or same color as that of the skin) on the skin resembling writing or welts (raised bumps) on the skin along with redness, itching and swelling. It may also be warm to touch and burning sensation may be felt. The symptoms appear within minutes of a trigger factor and the duration of symptoms is around 30 minutes. In rare cases, the duration may extend to a few hours to one day or even more than that. The signs and symptoms get worse at night in most cases. This condition is not contagious (means does not spread from one person to another via direct skin to skin contact).

What Causes Dermatographic Urticaria?

The real reason behind it is unknown but it is thought to occur from the release of histamine from mast cells on the skin surface. Here though no antigen (a foreign substance that triggers an immune response by the production of antibodies) is present, histamine may cause wheals (raised bumps on the skin) and swelling. This may happen when the immune system by mistake recognizes scratching or pressure on the skin as an allergen and sets off an allergic response by sending histamine to the affected area to get rid of an allergen. Histamine causes dilatation of the blood vessels and leakage of the fluid into the skin from small blood vessels causing swelling on the skin.

Another theory is that an allergic reaction may happen when the membrane of the mast cells is very weak that tends to break easily from pressure and cause allergic type of reaction. Some of the triggers that can set off this kind of reaction include scratching of skin, rubbing of the skin as from tight clothing, pressure on the skin as from wrist watch/ belt/any jewelry item, vibration, stress, an infection, cold/heat exposure, exercise, air blowing on the skin causing movement of hair on skin, bathing with warm water and taking some sort of medicines like penicillin. Persons having dry skin, those suffering from or having a history of atopic dermatitis (a skin disease that cause inflammation, redness and itching on skin) or allergies, thyroid issues, or family history of this type of urticaria, are at risk. Teenagers (13 yrs to 19 yrs) and young adults are most likely to be affected by this skin condition. Usually, no complications are linked to it, but sores caused by it can get infected with bacteria or fungus sometimes.

Homeopathic Treatment

Homeopathy proves very effective in numerous skin complaints. One among these is dermatographic urticaria that can effectively be treated under the homeopathic mode of treatment using a very gentle approach. Homeopathic remedies moderate the overactive immune system (that gives exaggerated response to some of the triggers resulting in skin reactions) and bring relief in such cases. These medicines help in managing acute episodes of urticaria as well as function to overcome this type of urticaria naturally with zero side effects. These medicines gradually reduce the intensity and frequency of the episodes of this type of urticaria. Along with healing the welts, they also help to manage any associated symptoms like itching, burning, stinging and pain in welts. Homeopathic medicines are selected individually for every case of urticaria keeping into consideration the triggers like scratching, heat or cold exposure, exercise and attending symptoms like itching, burning. Though these medicines are safe to use, it is advised to take any medicine after getting your case completely evaluated by a homeopathic doctor and avoid self-medication.

Best Homeopathic medicines for Child’s Growth

A child’s physical growth is indicated by increase in the height and weight of the child that is necessary in any child of that age group and sex. The child’s growth is fast from birth to 1- 2 yrs of age. Beyond this, there is gradual growth. Around adolescence (age between 13- 19yrs), the pace of growth picks up again called growth spurt (short time period where quick physical growth occurs in height and weight). When a child has less growth than what is considered normal for his / her age group, it is referred to as stunted growth.

Children with stunted growth may show symptoms like tiredness, looks pale and thin, loss of fat over cheeks, loose flabby skin in the folds, low immunity, poor intellectual development/school performance.

Homeopathic prescription varies from case to case as per the presenting symptom picture of every individual child. Hence it is recommended to take any homeopathic medicine only after consulting a homeopathic physician. Cholinergic Urticaria: How to get Relief through Homeopathy

Urticaria refers to a skin rash in which bumps known as wheals or welts suddenly appear on the skin. Also known as hives or nettle rash, urticaria is of several types. One among them is cholinergic urticaria, which refers to urticaria that gets triggered when the body gets warm and the body temperature increases from exercise or after sitting in a warm room in hot weather, and also from sweating. It is also known as heat hives or heat bumps. Exercise is the most common of all the triggers for this type of urticaria. Other triggers for this type of urticaria include bathing with hot water, fever, exposure to sun, sitting near the stove, stress, nervousness, anxiety, anger, eating spicy or hot food and alcohol consumption.

Homeopathy offers significant relief in cases of cholinergic urticaria. The medicines are entirely safe to use, as these are prepared from natural substances and have zero side-effects. These medicines help a great deal in healing the wheals.  Along with this, any itching, burning, or stinging sensation remains under absolute control with these medicines. After managing the condition, homeopathic medicines work gradually in overcoming the tendency of recurrence of this type of urticaria.  Though, the homeopathic treatment has to be continued for a few months depending on the duration and intensity of the case.

Homeopathic medicines for cholinergic urticaria are administered separately depending on the case and based on the symptoms of the patient. The patient’s unique case profile is studied in great detail and is evaluated by a homeopath before prescribing the medicines. This approach yields the most effective results. Since the homeopathic prescription varies from case to case, it is advised to take any homeopathic medicine under the supervision of a homeopathic doctor only.

Homeopathic medicines target the root cause of the diseases and moderate the overactive immune response. This provides long-lasting relief rather than short-term recovery. Homeopathic medicines can be used in acute as well as chronic cases of cholinergic urticaria but is recommended only for mild to moderate cases. Homeopathy has limitations in treating severe cases of urticaria and the severe condition of anaphylaxis. Therefore, in case there is severity of intensity and where any signs of anaphylaxis are present, it is advised to take immediate help through conventional modes of treatment.

Homeopathic medicines to treat cholinergic urticaria are 100% safe to use. These medicines are free from any chemicals or toxins and thus have no side-effects. Signs And Symptoms

In cholinergic urticaria, tiny (between 1 – 5 mm) bumps appear on the skin surrounded by circles called wheals. The bumps may be skin coloured or red. These may turn white when pressed. Itching, stinging, tingling, or burning sensation may be an accompanying factor. Though the bumps may appear on any part of the body, they occur more commonly on the face, chest, arms, and upper back. Palms, soles, and armpits are never affected. The hives may develop within 5-6 minutes of exposure to the trigger and may remain for half an hour to about two hours. This condition may vary from mild to severe and require immediate medical attention. Some of the symptoms of a severe condition (called anaphylaxis) include hives covering the whole body along with other symptoms like swelling in the deep layers of skin and swelling in the throat or of the tongue. This condition can block airways, causing contraction of the airways that results in breathing difficulty, wheezing, a weak and rapid pulse, dizziness, and low blood pressure. When any of these severe symptoms are felt, it is advised to take immediate medical help, as these point towards a life-threatening condition called anaphylaxis.

Cause

The exact reason for cholinergic urticaria is not yet known. Though, it is believed that it may be a response to an allergen. In this condition, the body overreacts to heat and sweat. Heat and sweat, along with the release of histamine, cause such a reaction. Though it may affect both males and females, it is relatively common in males. A person already suffering from an allergic condition like hay fever (allergic rhinitis), asthma, eczema, or urticaria from some other causes (like eating certain foods or pressure on the skin) is at a higher risk of suffering from cholinergic urticaria.

Losing Balance while Walking? Causes and its Homeopathic remedies

While walking we tend to have a certain level of balance, with which we are able to walk straight and do not fall. Sometimes, a person may have trouble standing with feet together and walking straight. It may simply be a part of ageing or could be arising from a medical condition. The main problem may lie in the inner ear (vestibular problems). Other causes can include muscle weakness, nerve damage, brain injury and certain neurological disorders.

Homeopathic Management

Homeopathy is very effective in managing complaints of imbalance while walking. These medicines are entirely safe to use with zero side effects as these are prepared from naturally occurring substances. Homeopathic medicines bring excellent results in such cases by aiming to treat the root cause behind it. Homeopathic medicines bring gradual improvement in such cases and results vary from case to case. Homeopathic medicines are recommended for mild to moderate cases. There is no specific medicine in homeopathy for these cases and the suitable medicine has to be selected for every individual case separately after detailed case evaluation based on the characteristic symptom presentation. In some cases, imbalance while walking could point to serious health problems so it is advised to get every case evaluated by a doctor and take medicine under supervision of a doctor. Causes Of Imbalance While Walking

1. Problem in the inner ear (vestibular problems): Vestibular system in the inner ear is involved in maintaining balance. If there is some issue in its proper working, it is unable to collect information on motion, equilibrium and position of body, and fails to send proper signals to brain. It can cause a floating sensation.

2. Poor eyesight: It leads to poor focus on things in the surrounding when walking and may lead to imbalance.

3. Muscle weakness, unstable joints and brain injury may also cause imbalance while walking.

4. Nerve damage in legs (peripheral neuropathy): It mostly happens in diabetics though it may arise from some injury, alcoholism or an infection in a person.

5. Multiple sclerosis: It is a disease affecting the brain and the spinal cord. In this condition, the cells of the immune system damage the protective myelin sheath of the nerve fibers which disrupts communication between brain and rest of the body parts. It can lead to unsteady gait along with other symptoms including numbness or weakness in the limbs, tingling sensations, lack of coordination, vision loss, vertigo, weakness, blurred or double vision, slurred speech and cognitive issues.

Parkinson’s disease is a disorder affecting the nervous system that usually begins with hand tremors at rest followed by other complaints that include stiffness of the muscles, stooped posture, impaired balance, changes in speech, reduced or no expression on the face, reduced arm swing while walking and changes in handwriting. Another reason could be brain stroke which is a medical emergency requiring immediate medical help. In a brain stroke, there is interrupted oxygen supply to the brain resulting in death of brain cells and loss of brain function. It can cause loss of balance and difficulty while walking along with other symptoms including weakness in the legs, slurred speech, dizziness, weakness in the arms/face and confusion.

7. ALS: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a nervous system disorder which affects nerve cells of brain and spinal cord leading to loss of muscle control. It causes symptoms like problems in walking, falling and tripping, weakness in legs, feet, hands, problem while swallowing, slurred speech and muscle cramps.

8. Dementia: It affects memory and causes memory loss, which in turn affects thinking and social interaction of a person.  Dementia can cause disorientation, confusion, problem with communication.

It is common in the lower back at L5 – S1 level. Slip disc in lower back may put pressure on the sciatic nerve that can lead to lower back pain extending down the leg (called sciatica), numbness, tingling sensation and muscle weakness in lower limbs. In mild cases, emergency help is not required. But if there is associated loss of bowel or bladder control, it points to serious issue where one should seek emergency medical help.

2. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) – In this medical condition, muscle pain is felt after about one or two days of physical exertion. Those who have done leg exercises may feel temporary weakness in their legs for few days.

3. Peripheral neuropathy – It refers to the damage to nerves other than that of brain and spinal cord (means peripheral nervous system). It may happen from an injury, diabetes, hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) or an infection. It usually begins with numbness/tingling in hands and feet. Its other symptoms are weakness, burning sensation, pain and difficulty in walking.

It may cause weakness in legs or arms, muscle stiffness, difficulty in speech or swallowing, difficulty in walking and falling easily.

9. Cauda equina syndrome – In this syndrome there is compression of a bundle of nerves at the end of spinal cord. Its symptoms are numbness in the back of legs, hips, inner thighs, pain in back, sciatica, weakness of legs. It is a medical emergency and if medical help is not given promptly it can cause permanent weakness/paralysis of legs and loss of bladder/bowel control.

10. Beriberi – Deficiency of vitamin B1 can damage nerves, brain and heart. It can cause weakness, nerve pain, memory loss and heart failure.

11. Stroke – It is a medical emergency needing prompt medical help. It refers to interrupted oxygen supply (from blockage / bursting of blood vessel) to brain that causes death of brain cells and loss of brain function. Its symptoms happen suddenly and depend on the part of the brain affected.
